Aikido dojo
On a purely physical level Aikido is an art involving techniques synthesized from Kenjutsu, Jujutsu, and other Japanese Martial Arts. Aikido focuses on using an opponent’s own energy to throw them. It is not a static art, but places great emphasis on dynamic movement and redirection of force. Aikido helps develop physical health, mental discipline, awareness, and self-confidence. The skills learned in aikido can be applied to self-defense and many other daily uses.
Our teachers earned their black belts with the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba (ASU). ASU is affiliated with Aikido World Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. ASU is a membership organization that affiliates all of the Aikido dojos under the instruction of Saotome Shihan and his students. The name of the organization reflects a commitment to the vision of O Sensei and not the cultivation of a style or territory. We welcome beginners and experienced participants from all schools and disciplines.
Nagare Aikikai was founded by Lars Ullberg, Greg Pieper, and Patrick Weyand in 2015, after being encouraged by their teacher Charles Tseng Sensei to start a dojo.
Nagare translates to Flowing in Japanese.
It is the belief of the instructors that Aikido should flow like water, with all the subtle energy that water can bring. Nagare Aikikai is a satellite dojo of Lake County Aikikai which is affiliated with the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba. We welcome visitors and new students.
