The Hospital Council represents the collective voice of all hospitals on Long Island.
The organization provides advocacy, information, and education to its hospital members, legislators, allied health affiliates, media, and the public. A major component of the Hospital Council's work is the Facilitated Enrollment (FE) Program. The FE program is supported by a grant from the New York State Department of Health to provide enrollment assistance to individuals and families seeking public health insurance. Our grant has been renewed annually since January 2000. We screen for Medicaid, Family Health Plus, and Child Health Plus and one day we hope to screen for the Health Insurance Exchange program that was legislated under the federal Affordable Care Act.
The Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council helps enhance health care for all Long Islanders by representing the interests of its member hospitals before lawmakers, regulatory agencies, the media, and the public.
We provide enrollement assistance for the New York State of Health Official Health Plan Marketplace and the Consumer Assistance for the Aged, Blind, and Disabled program. We advocate for a variety of health care-related regulatory and legislative issues affecting hospitals and the patients they serve.
