Got a taste of home while working near LA! Cod fish dish was not overly oily like others! So good! Very authentic Portuguese café! And the pastries took far to many home with me to try as well! Pastel De Nata had many varieties! And the Berlin Ball was just perfect! Service was very kind!Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: Yes
Were here long time ago, but a friend recommended this place again and we went there to have our brunch. It is a nice cozy place, with nice servers and staffs. Their food were tasted good. You can choose and grab your pastry from the inside if the restaurant where there various delicious pastries.
Cool place. Parking is a bit tight. The food is amazing. The pastel de nata were tasty. We tried the coconut, Nutella and regular natas and they were pretty good. We also had the Vege breakfast burrito. It was pretty big and filling. They charge a 3% fee if you use a card. Good service, good food, so so parking!
Two flies keep bugging us around our table, plus I also see one being trapped in the pastry cabinet- and of course it is not a trap but a dream place for the fly himself. After experiencing his pleasure, I absolutely gave up the idea of trying some dessert. I can't say the food was anything like what I had in Porto. I spent a considerable amount of time in Porto between 2018 and 2019, so I am very confident that the Porto authentic Francesinha does NOT look like this. In Porto, people pay €9 for Francesinha . Here, you pay $25 for a forgery. Who would put Marinara on a Francesinha - it should be melted cheese after being baked in an oven! Who would put a thick and super dry chicken breast inside Francesinha to make people suffer from cutting? And the bread - too thick and soaked up in Marinara… And the egg - not blended in the cheese coat as there is no cheese coat at all. Everything is in the wrong place and taste so off. My boyfriend got a pri-pri chicken and it is also very dry. Not a pleasant experience at all.
Came here about an hour before closing. Tried the natas of course! and the Bola de Berlin house donut with custard. Both were so good. Pastel de nata - The puff pastry base was so pleasantly flaky, tender, delicate, not overbaked. The custard filling was also delicate, not too sweet and complemented the puff pastry so well. Bola de Berlin - The bola donut was so pillowy and almost melt in your mouth. The sugar coat gave a nice crunch and texture; it was a nice contrast to the soft donut and creamy custard filling. The custard filling is a little bit on the sweeter side compared to the natas but it was so good that even for me who prefers less sweet things, I thoroughly enjoyed it. What was more impressive was that they tasted so good even though I came at the end of the day. They are not cheap... but I will definitely be coming back to try more of their bakery items because of the great impression I had with what I've tried at my first visit. In my opinion, far superior to the natas at Paderia Bakehouse. Please come here if you want a great Portuguese egg tart.
This item - Gambas à Alho - is amazing. Great spot , love their crème brûlée tart like Chinese egg tart
The only authentic Portuguese bakery I know of in LA. Excellent pasteis de nata. They are made fresh and very crunchy and delicious filling. They have different styles of them including cinnamon and Nutella and coconut but I prefer the original and basing my 5 stars on that. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and welcoming. They also have other unique Portuguese brunch items that I will be trying when things open up more.
the bakery is good but terrible customer service. i ordered a few pastries and sat down outside and was chastised and shamed by the woman at the counter possibly the owner? for taking up space for higher paying customers despite there being plenty other spaces in the front of the store. maybe i would have considered ordering more food if i wasn’t greeted with such hostility…
Great spot for pastries. I believe it’s the only place in Los Angeles to get a Portuguese style Nata, an exceptionally crisp puff pastry shell with a custard filling like crème brûlée. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
The family and I went for breakfast last weekend. We arrived @ 8:30 and it wasn’t busy at all. I was surprised to see it was bigger inside than what it appeared from the outside. It was really nice and homey inside with beautiful tiles. We shared the crunchy French toast with berries and the stuffed French toast with strawberries/cream cheese. Both were delicious but we all preferred the one with the crunchy outside. We also stopped by the bakery to take home some natas. Wonderfully delicious!! Will come back again!
