Description

Directions to the Natchez Trace Parkway vary greatly depending on what part of the tri-state Parkway you are trying to reach. There are more than 50 roads that access the Parkway in Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. For specific questions concerning how to get to a certain portion of the Parkway, please call the Visitor Center at 1-800-305-7417. Below are listed some of the more common ways that travelers may access the Parkway.

In Natchez, Mississippi - The southern terminus of the Parkway is accessed off of Liberty Road in Natchez, Mississippi. Technically, this is starting your trip from the historical "beginning" of the Old Trace, in Natchez, at milepost zero.

In Jackson, Mississippi - There are two major access points in the Jackson area. One access is from I-20, and the other from I-55.

In Tupelo, Mississippi - U.S. Highway 78 (future I-22) accesses the Parkway.

In Cherokee, Alabama - U.S. Highway 72 accesses the Parkway.

Southwest of Nashville, Tennessee - The northern terminus of the Parkway (milepost 444) intersects with Tennessee Highway 100 about 17 miles southwest of downtown Nashville. Travelers can also follow I-40 west of Nashville to exit 192, McCrory Lane. Travel on McCrory Lane for about 5 miles to the entrance to the Natchez Trace Parkway.

It should be noted that the list above is only meant to highlight some of the more popular access points to the Parkway. Please keep in mind that there are over 50 roads that access the Parkway.

Absolutely stunning road to drive. Fall colors and slow easy curves made it relaxing. The 50 MPH speed limit made sense. RV can drive it. Stop into the visitor center, learn the history and key spots along the trail, it over 400 miles so plenty to see
Watch the movie! If the staff gives you the opportunity to watch the movie about the history of the Trace, do it. It isn't your run of the mill monotone voice-over with boring still shots. This one is updated and has aerial images that will keep you watching. The facility itself is very clean and the walls are covered with facts and interesting photos. Worth a stop!
Well we always love stopping there. There's always something that we learn. You want to stop here and take a picture of the floor because it has a chart of the trace roadway. As to watch the movie. It's 15 minutes but well worth the history lesson. And you can browse the trinkets in the store. The best part is the volunteers that look after the location. We were lucky to get one of the volunteers that has been awarded the presidents award for volunteer hours. It's amazing when someone has 10,000 plus hours of volunteering in the system. Overall a great place to stop, rest and chat with the hosts on duty
I drove quite a long way on the parkway this time. They are doing work on it so some areas of it have detours. I have in the past both drove the entire length and walked part of the original trail. The visitor center has good information about the Trace and an excellent movie.

Very nice place to visit and grab some souvenirs! Staff was great and the place was clean! Has some nice historical facts to learn while visiting! The parkway was beautiful to drive!
Enjoyed the information presented here on the parkway. I definitely recommend the 15min video on the parkway. The ranger not sure if he was volunteer or paid was very engaging with each visitor. He offered help as needed. Great little oasis along the parkway.
Great place , very informative. Was awesome to learn about the Trace and stop In and get a pin and some stickers. There's even a video they place that shows you all about the Trace and gives it's history. Very cool
The people are friendly and will answer questions that you have. My kids loved the snake show that they had. He wants to go back now! The crafts that they got to do was fun and easy enough for all age groups.
