Sidney BC National Car Rentals. Good Service, Good Cars. They will pick you up and drop you off at the Swartz Bay Ferry no extra charge just call ahead. We always get a good price here. Tip: don't use the National Site to book. Try several sites looking for rental cars in Sidney BC NOT the airport and you'll find a deal that is at least 1/2 the price of the National and others posted price. Aug/23 we paid $29 US$ per day unlimited mileage for a small SUV. We have done this several times over the years and it is always booked on a none National site, always located in the town of Sidney, always the same National branch. Watch out the good quotes are in US$s but still very cheap.
Matthew was really great and accommodating while helping pick up my parents from the ferry to get their car. He was very helpful on a short notice and we definitely appreciate it. Price was also well under other larger car rentals in the area.
Prince G was so helpful. I called using the National phone from the Ferry terminal in Schwartz Bay and he knew it was me and came to pick me up within 10 minutes. Great car . Prince also drove us back to the Ferry after returning the car to the Sidney location. He was very thorough going through the contract with us and looking at the vehicle before we rented it. We had fantastic customer service from him.
Price was at a reduced rate due to a corporate rate...when I filled the tank today I found that they had given me less than a full tank...roughly 100km according to the gauge. When I got the car it had a range of 650km until empty. Steering rack has a grinding sound...poor quality vehicle.
If I could leave a zero star review I would. The manager at this location rented me a car for one night as my motorhome was being serviced up the road. I had to drop it off in the morning and as a result my rental pick up was before noon. I advised the manager that my RV wasn’t going to be ready until close to close the next day and he said that wouldn’t be a problem and he would only charge me for the one day, even though the rental agreement stated it had to be returned by 10:30 am as they were slow and it wasn’t an overnight. I went to drop off the vehicle at 4:30 pm and he said he was going to charge me for the second day and that he’d never said anything about that and to check my rental agreement. I would have changed around my appointments for the day had he not offered to make the concession, and now I’m being charged for a second day. This person went out of their way to scam a second day out of my rental and I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau ASAP.
This is the worst car rental company I have ever used. I will never return, nor will I recommend any of my friends, family, or co-workers to use this company. I had a rock damage the windshield on my travels. Before I left the National car rental on Vancouver island I told them that I would like to have the opportunity to get my own estimate, as well as pay for it out of my own pocket if possible. They said okay, but they did not follow through. A quotation was sent to me days later with no hold, no notations and no consideration of my request. They have now charged me an insane amount of $693.00 for a single windshield on a 2018 Elantra. In my home town of Calgary, that would have taken a maximum of 2 hours at the very longest quote and been 275-350 for the total cost. They invoiced me for 3.9 hours of labour, admin costs, loss of usage cost they have 20 cars in the lot at all times....its Vancouver island folks and the windshield and molding, and adhesive. Understanding a inflated cost for the extra taxes and possibly for the remote island. But 693 DOLLARS!!?!! I have never had a worse customer service experience than this. I might also note, I work for a Auto company, and the vehicle was not serviced properly, the brakes were in terrible shape as well. NEVER USE THIS RENTAL COMPANY THEY WILL TAKE YOU TO THE CLEANERS!
Rented a 3 ton truck. Reservation process was simple, and accomplished with a very helpful actual human, who was the same person we dealt with when picking up and dropping off. He was prompt, efficient, courteous and friendly. The truck was ready and waiting when promised, no weird extra charges or upselling. Very pleased and will recommend to others.
Be careful here. I rented a vehicle from them and received all kinds of excess charges beyond the terms of my rental agreement. The tank was 3/4 full when I picked up the rental which was marked on my contract. I returned the vehicle with 3/4 tank and received a $38 fuel charge. They also charged me for an extra day even though picked up the vehicle at 4:15pm on July 5 and returned it at 4pm on July 6. They were closed at 3pm on Saturday so I was told to put the keys in the drop box which i did but still got billed an extra day charge of $33. The reimbursement for both mistakes took 2 weeks to hit my Visa. Thankfully Im a National Executive member so their Customer Service team had the charge corrected in minutes. Kudos to National for another job well done!! I just want to let people know to be aware if you choose to try this location.
Quick and easy to find the indoor counter. Transaction at counter also relatively easy and quick. Finding the car or getting help in the lot was not easy as there were multiple car rental companies sharing the lots and, while Budget had a small hut/office, there did not appear to be National employees. Perhaps I'm used to the larger cities and this is common in smaller locations. When I returned the car, I expected to check in with a lot person, but instead had to walk back into the terminal office at arrivals far side of airport from the lot, then go back to the other side of airport for departure. Just plan for the extra time.
My wife and I recently travelled from Vancouver to Victoria on the ferry. We needed to rent a car for travel on the island but didn’t want to pay for that on the ferry. We booked with National in Sidney because they were willing to pick us up and drop us off at the ferry terminal. Rishi, the proprietor, was so accommodating and friendly. We would recommend his location to anyone.
