Horrible customer service… very rude representative! I had a reservation for a pickup truck at 10:30 am. I reached there at 11:15 am and was told by Alexander Gonzales that he had called me multiple times and because of their 30-minute hold policy, he gave away the pickup truck to someone else. He lied about 2 things. The National customer service mentioned that hold time is 24 hours and not 30 minutes. Plus, instead of being polite and apologetic, he tried to put blame on me saying he called me multiple times the day of reservation and previous day, but I showed and proved to him that he had only called me once at 9:30 am on the day of reservation. At this time, he said that number of times he had called doesn’t matter. He also wasn’t willing to listen to me when I said that I had called their location multiple times while on my way there I was searching for the exact location and took me 10-15 minutes of roaming around and no one picked the phone. When I asked for a manager, he said he was the manager. When I asked if I could talk to his manager in person or on the phone, he said there is no one. At this time I was obviously angry, and he said I am not his child to take all this, and began to walk away. My wife had already left me there at the airport needed pickup only and no other car for local work, so now I had to take Uber to go back home, since my wife had to take my kids to a dance performance. I paid for Uber, missed my kids dance performance, couldn’t do the planned work with the pickup truck, and walked away with a bad taste for National Car rental. I have been a big fan of National car rental, especially the Emerald Isle, but was shocked to see such kind of customer service. Definitely not renting from this location again! PS. Already filed a complaint with escalation department in National Car Rental reference number 43020781.
I have never written a review in my life but had to for this. Genuinely the worst service I have ever encountered across any industry, period. I am Executive Elite status, had a reservation, and was told they did not have a car for me which left me stranded. I did not have a ride back to my hotel. No empathy was expressed whatsoever and the service agent was extremely rude. Thankfully, someone came and returned their rental early which I was told I could take that vehicle. Now, upon trying to extend my rental, I drove to the location and was told this would be impossible. The same rude agent from before jotted a number down and I was told to text the number to extend my rental which I thought was strange and unprofessional. I texted the number and got the response "imma go head and take care of that for you." Nothing was taken care of. I called the National customer service line and was told to physically go to the Sugar Land rental location, which I already have done. Completely at a loss for what to do about my extension. Going forward at another location. Unacceptable.
I booked a car rental via Expedia and I went to pick up my car from National, the car rental National were out of cars and they told me don’t book via a third party as they are not reliable. It messed up my whole plan and cost me more money to rent from a nother place because I was in rush. It was a horrible experience neither Expedia or National were helpfull and even attempt to solve the problem.
Always understaffed, wait time can be crazy. Hard to reach via phone next to impossible. had to physically be in the location for minor billing issues twice because they didn’t do it right during the first troubleshoot. They also rarely have inventory.
The service was ok. My husband returned the car and then remembered that he foolishly forgot his wallet in it. He called them repeatedly and was getting the usual runaround. Finally after 5 hours he drove back again to their location where it took them another hour to locate the car and wallet even though it hadn't been rented out to anyone. Of course the guy who cleaned the car saw the wallet and instead of turning it in he stole all the cash- about $200. As expected we still haven't gotten a return call regarding the complaint we made.
Fast and friendly staff. I didn't have issues with my rental even though my car selection was not available; National still managed to make sure my needs were met.
Fantastic customer service. Jaron and Tim were great, they helped us and got us exactly what we needed and wanted. They were patient and answered all of our questions. Will definitely be back when needing another rental. Would definitely recommend!!
The experience was good overall. There were a couple of nuisances though. I stopped renting from Enterprise and started Renting at National long time ago when they were separate companies. Reason: National lets you pick a car vs. Enterprise where they assign you a car from a very limited poor options. When I arrived at the Kiosk, it seems like it was combined for Enterprise/National. The associate was friendly, but for my "Standard SUV", the only 2 options were Chevy Equinox or a mini-van. I needed an SUV for sure and I didn't feel that Equinox was a standard SUV. That feels like a small SUV. I had no option but to pay more to upgrade to a larger size SUV because I had family/luggage outside. They had to get the car from another location, which took some time. That's not a big deal. But when the car arrived, it wasn't the usual "National clean". It had not been washed because the windshield was full of dead bug marks, which made visibility a challenge. It remained that way throughout the trip, until the rain cleaned the windshield when I was returning to town. This whole experience just reminded me why I had stopped renting from Enterprise. If the experience continues this way i.e. no freedom to pick the car, dirty car etc., I may have to switch my loyalty to another company.
Love using this rental car company. They are fast and professional. Also due to the shortage of cars, I would highly recommend to call them the day before your reservation to confirm there is a car for you!
I have rented from this location several times but the last 3 visits have been terrible. However my 6 pm reservation from yesterday was the worst. I took and Uber $55 from downtown to their Location only to find out they were closed! The gentlemen from Hertz said they left at exactly 6 pm! He went on to stay they stay till their last reservation arrives or they call the customer to make other arrangements if they are closing. That would have been nice to hear from National before I paid $55 and then $68 dollars to go back to my original location. This was a huge waste of time, money and is absolutely infuriating.
