National Mall

Description

The National Mall is a national park in downtown Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States. The National Park Service (NPS) of the U.S. Department of the Interior administers the National Mall, which is part of its National Mall and Memorial Parks unit. The term National Mall commonly includes areas that are also officially part of neighboring West Potomac Park and Constitution Gardens to the southwest, and often is taken to refer to the entire area between the Lincoln Memorial on the west and east to the United States Capitol grounds, with the Washington Monument dividing the area slightly west of its midpoint. A smaller designation, sometimes referred to as the Mall proper, excludes both the Capitol grounds and the Washington Monument grounds, applying only to an area between them. The National Mall contains and borders a number of museums of the Smithsonian Institution, art galleries, cultural institutions and various memorials, sculptures and statues and receives approximately 24 million visitors each year.

An absolute beautiful place to visit and take in all the monuments and history. To see this stuff on TV as opposed to seeing it in real life is night and day. I would definitely recommend everyone sees this at least once in their life if given the chance
This is beautiful and well taken care of. The grass is green and clean, the whole area feels airy and not crowded. It looks bigger on a map than it really is, you can go around the whole national mall seeing all memorials in about 2-3 hours. Just note that buses don’t reach some areas. There are also several restrooms around which is greatly appreciated, as well as little overpriced shops that offer refreshments.
So much to learn here. Monuments to some of the world's most influential figures, and more world class museums than you can possibly see in one trip. Friendly, clean, and safe, with ice cream trucks in absurd abundance!
The place is for FREE! And a must visit if you're in Washington DC! Several monuments can be visited in here and it's walkable! SHAME on those visitors who just simply leaves their trashes! Don't leave your trashes but leave only good memories!Visited onWeekendReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
We were absolutely enraptured from this beautiful place. We enjoyed the wide open space, the plenty of green and the incredible number of museums and memorials. It's great going by bike bike rental from capital bikes.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
We had a wonderful time as a family at the National Mall. There is so much to see, so be prepared for a lot of walking. There are vendors everywhere, so you can stay hydrated. We stayed outside of the city and took the subway. It was definitely more affordable and convenient. Parking is not easy to find. The entrance is free to see the monuments and museums; however, you do need reservations to enter the Air & Space museum. It's very easy. Just logged on their site and get the passes. They are free! Overall, it was a great experience!
Title: "Party Central on the National Mall!" Rating: 5/5 stars Review: Oh, baby, the National Mall is where the real shindig's at! If you thought this place was just about history and monuments, think again. It's a funky, fun playground for all ages! First off, let's talk about the green, grassy dance floor they call "the lawn." This place is perfect for a game of frisbee, a picnic, or even some impromptu interpretative dance. Trust me; you haven't truly lived until you've busted a move with the Washington Monument as your dance partner. Now, onto the main stage – the monuments! These bad boys light up like they're ready to party all night long. The Lincoln Memorial? It's like Honest Abe's throwing a rave every evening. And the Washington Monument? It's the ultimate disco ball, especially during those summer nights! But wait, there's more! Food trucks galore! You can chow down on everything from gourmet hot dogs to exotic international cuisines. It's a gastronomic adventure, right here on the Mall. Don't even get me started on the museums – they're like theme parks for your brain. Whether you're into art, history, or air and space yes, they've got rockets, you're in for a wild ride. And let's not forget the people-watching. The National Mall is like a runway for fashionistas, a stage for street performers, and a meeting place for folks from all walks of life. You never know who you might bump into – maybe even a founding father well, someone dressed as one. So, if you're looking for a funky and fun time in the heart of D.C., the National Mall is where it's at! Grab your friends, pack a picnic, and let the good times roll. It's a five-star fiesta, baby!
It is a nice place to learn more about our country. Just try not to go during hot summer day since there are not much cover unless you are in door.Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entryFree
This is not a place that I would have woke up one day and said... "Let's go to the National Mall!", however, my husband did, and I was delightfully surprised at its beauty, energy and undeniable history filled with people of every nationality and architectural eye candy as far as you could see. Definitely worth the visit, and take a few days to soak it all in
Such an excellent layout. So walkable and gorgeous. Very clean! So much around here that you cannot go wrong. Wasn’t nearly as busy as I had expected. Wanted to go at night but we encountered rain.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
