Beautiful and amazing experience. Simplicity that makes this museum and monument memorable for those who were around when 9/11 occurred and poignant for those who are learning what we saw unfold across the World and in every American classroom. We bought our tickets in advance and had the opening time. The museum was empty and allowed for great shots of the vastness that use to be the twin towers. Shortly after we entered the floor became busy. No matter the time you come - it is worth it.
A must see! It’s very emotional and unforgettable… please also remember when you visit this site, if you are like us tourists then please be considerate that there can be family and friends of lost ones next to you at any time so be respectful!’ Remember that to most, this is their tombstone. It was very overwhelming to stand at ground zero and just remember it was the most terrifying day in history in my lifetime but then to look at what we have done to turn it around to show how strong we are as Americans is so inspiring!!!
So much sadness and grief happened here. Because I remember that day like it was yesterday. Visiting this memorial helped to bring lots of things into perspective. Helped me understand so much. They have rebuilt and were able to create an educational and emotional memorial to commemorate the beautiful lives of people that are no longer with us because of this tragedy. My heart was broken just to hear all of the stories told by residents of the city. How horrific that the people of the city had to endure so much tragedy on that day and many years later still have so much pain to remember. Inside there’s so many items that belong people who lost their lives, and left behind only memories for their family and friends. They have done a great job of making it possible to hear firsthand stories from people who endured so much on that day. You can do the guided or unguided tour with just the audio and a purchase on the inside for the headphones I don’t know what to say, but I will say everyone should visit this memorial and bring their kids so that they are aware of the history and how it impacted so many lives, and still do more than 2 decades ago.
Whew…what a visit…and what an amazing memorial. First the logistics. We bought our tickets online for a specific day and time. The process was easy the only tiny drawback being that there was no option to add the ticket to our Apple wallet. Not a big deal, but many sites in the city have gone that way. We arrived early and were directed to a vet short line just a few people long and let in 30 min prior to our scheduled one. Once downstairs, you have options. Guided tours: $20pp Listening device tours $10pp or go on your own. We opted for the audio guide. Having Robert De Niro guid you through the first section was a pleasant surprise. The tour is thorough, thought provoking, and considerate giving clear choices and warnings when things could be upsetting. The personal accounts, insights and information brought me to tears half a dozen times. In my opinion, this is something that everyone visiting New York should put in their list. But be warned, it may be a difficult, moving experience.
Very touching and heart-felt memorial. We highly recommend the tour. It only took an hour, and the guide was informative and helpful. They really did a great job with this. Even the stairwell was original. BUY YOUR TICKETS ONLINE.... SKIP THE WAIT.Visited onWeekdayWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$21–30
I finally went 22 years later. Lost five that day. Roller coaster ride of emotions. Too many to list. The exhibits are heart wrenching. The sorrow I felt was profound. The sacrifice and loss of First Responders is immeasurable. Bravery beyond words. They answered the call, for many their last. " No day shall erase you from the memory of time" Poet, Virgil "Let's Roll" Todd Beamer We will never forget!!!
The 9/11 memorial & museum depicts the events that happened on that eventful day when the World Trade Center was attacked. The museum presents not only what happened on 9/11 but also the events that led to 9/11 and how it’s aftermath. The museum not only display some of the real world items from that eventful day such as parts of the twin towers, but it also plays some conversations between passengers on board the plane with their loved ones and with the airline operators. Some of these were their last messages. There are also some disturbing images and scenes. These are pointed out prior to the entry to these exhibits. Just outside the museum lies two big water fountains where the twin towers were once located. A memorial for those who lost their lives are shown there. I would highly recommend booking the tickets in advance and opting for the guided tour. However, if the guided tour is unavailable as is my case, I find the audio guide very helpful in guiding one through the exhibit and making the experience even more immersive. It explains every artefact, every event and every conversation that is shown in the museum. While the 9/11 memorial & museum could be viewed in an hour, I would highly recommend setting aside at least three to four hours to fully absorb the significance of the museum and the exhibition.
The ground zero memorial is well worth the visit, the museum is ok… I’d recommend the audio tour for this, although this cost is additional to the ticket price! We did a package that included the Memorial, Museum and the One World Trade Centre including the accent to the Top of the World Observatory. The package was very good... Personally I had hoped to see more about the political background and any lessons learned, but sadly this was completely absent.
My wife and I went on a guided tour of the 9/11 memorial. It was quite the experience for all of us as we remember the day. This tour is not for the faint of heart but for the strong. The staff knew their stuff and and were very informed regarding all the events of that day. They have a memorial underground for the lost lives. It’s a very touching memorial and was difficult to not become emotional. If you are able to, I would recommend this tour at least once.
The National September 11 Memorial & Museum, also known as the 9/11 Memorial & Museum is a world renowned memorial and museum and a fitting tribute to the tragic events that unfolded on September 11th, 2001, one of the darkest days in America’s history. Both the Memorial & the Museum are located in downtown Manhattan, right near the One World Trade Center and the site of the original Twin Towers. In August of 2023, I brought and treated my wife and myself for a visit to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. Prior to entering the museum, my wife and I visited and viewed the Memorial, which is accessible and free to the public. The Memorial consists of two large expansive reflecting pools, and they are situated in the locations of the original Twin Towers. Each pool contains the largest man made water fall in North America. Both my wife and I were captivated by the sheer size and scale of the reflecting pools, and felt that the 9/11 victims were beautifully inscribed throughout the memorial. When visiting the museum, my wife and I were quite impressed with the quality and quantity of the multiple exhibits that were featured. They play an instrumental part on relieving the events that happened on 9/11 as well as demonstrate the anguish and despair felt by New York, the nation and the world. The museum features numerous Ground Zero artifacts ranging from wrecked emergency vehicles, recordings of survivors and first responders, pictures of the victims, photographs of the wreckage site and multiple other items. My wife and I were particularly stunned and felt tremendously saddened when seeing the photos of victims jumping out of the Twin Towers and falling to their death. While both of us vividly remember what transpired on that infamous day, the museum does a superb job on providing an eye opening experience of all the events that unfolded, capturing all of the key moments that occurred on that day, its devastating impact on the victims, the city, the nation and the world, and showcasing the subsequent events that followed 9/11. The National September 11 memorial and museum are definitely worth visiting and exploring!!!
