Nations Fresh Foods is a multi-cultural grocery store chain which was founded on August 28th, 2012 in Woodbridge. The 2nd Nations store in downtown Hamilton opened on July 13th, 2013. Although we are a new comer in the grocery and prepared food industry, we provide a wide variety of grocery items from all over the world to serve our customers. We have the belief of “daily fresh, daily affordable”. We aim to keep the price low while bringing more customers to our stores.

To serve the modern lifestyle in the core of downtown Hamilton, our Hamilton flagship store has a large food court area with worldwide cuisines that are ready to eat / heat. With the fresh grocery items and kitchen that has great capability, we provide an excellent catering service as well.

Always love a stop at Nations! It's a great market with tons of variety from around the world. Love the variety of drinks they carry Huge selection of fruits and vegetables- prices aren't too bad considering where items are coming from. We went around 7pm-ish and it was pretty busy but, check out was quick and easy. Definitely a go to spot if you're in downtown Hamilton.
I love this store. Always something new and different. The veggie section is fresh and well priced. The fish and meat department never disappoints and is always friendly if ask for help The Deli department could be nicer and sometimes smile and say hi. Lady who organizes the carts at the front - is always friendly, welcoming and energetic. Keep up the good work :
Best find in Hamilton for all grocery needs - variety of veggies, fruits, seafood, meat, drinks & hot food selection. Reasonable price and layout is pretty good. However the lady at checkout 5 was unfriendly, unhelpful and we didn’t like her service -1 star. Else all good
A lot of choices and good prices here but frustrating that in addition to only taking debit and cash they only take Canadian debit, given how close to the border and no notice till you are trying to figure out of you have enough cash. Parking is validated on $30 purchase, starting at one hour during weekday and going up to 2 hours at night and I think more on weekends.
Two stars for the variety of stock they carry, but the store itself is terrible and the staff - if they even speak English - are worse. Long lines at checkout, unhelpful staff elsewhere, very confusing floor layout, and a store policy that treats potential customers like thieves. If they have what you want, great, but otherwise expect a miserable experience every second spent inside this store. The prices for common things are average to slightly high, but customers are here for the product availability and not customer service or value.
It could be the greatest supermarket around but it’s only a 3 stars for me. The lines at the register can get very very long. The regular ground beef is super high in fat, actually more white than red. Thankfully there’s a lean option but I don’t know how the regular one can even be sold. They have lots of fresh produce but some veggies, like zucchinis, only come in a styrofoam container with cling wrap which is a shame… And they only take cash or debit… I don’t know it’s 2023 I feel like reducing waste and taking credit card is fairly standard. It sucks because they have a bunch of products, especially international ones, and it’s kinda the only supermarket downtown. Let’s say they have room for improvement.
June 30, 2023, 5 mins before closing we went in store to buy one thing. The staff at the door is very friendly and understanding. There is one employee blond hair white guy, he was YELLING and SCREAMING at us and another girl how he need to go home, store is close. I said is it’s the store close at 8:45pm? The time I cashed out my item is 8:41pm. He said today is the holidays hour as there is no indication on the store website. Very rude and inpatient, poor customer service, that one staff make me felt uncomfortable shopping here.
Very good selection of international and especially Asian foods. Vast produce department with so much variety that you'll want to try something new in fruit and veg every visit! Large fresh meat section features many different cuts of meats and varieties of poultry you may never have seen before. If a sauce exists, they carry it! This is definitely a destination beyond your regular grocery shop. Nice bakery section too. But wait...there's more....yes, go there hungry. There's a BBQ counter, dim sum counter, hot food buffet and tons of ready to eat foods...so many to choose from! Now, if only Nations would open a store near Kingston Ontario, the Eastern part of the province would be complete!
This store is extremely good for ability to purchase any fruits, vegetables or meat and even shelves full and stocked with everything one would need. Even have their own Deli in the back, where one can get cold meats etc. Also recently after COVID lifted the rear portion is open for a buffet style dinner, Chines Food items and much more you can pick up whatever foods you want large variety of different foods available put them in the styrofoam containers and lids they provide and weigh it on their scale. When I got something in the month of June 2023 it was $12.99 a pound plus HST + Service Taxes + the tare and weight of the actual containers. It can get very chaotic and busy at times especially on weekends. Many Asian customers that shop No racism here but I found some of these people extremely rude and ignorant when it comes to shopping etiquette. Tried their meats personally not a fan at all. But when in a pinch, and can’t get to a regular grocery store. I will shop here, the prices are much higher then a regular market or grocery stores. They have excellent hours when they’ve open. Open Monday-Sunday.
Worst shopping experience of my life. Do NOT shop here. Was accosted by security staff, accused of bringing in cart after being told not allowed to and then bullied and it was clear he was enjoying it. Calling me a liar and potential thief…for nothing!! Never ever go here if looking for a pleasant shopping experience free of harassment. Who knew there were supermarket bullies??!! Goodbye Nations!!
