The Native American and Indigenous Studies program (NAIS) supports students and faculty whose research engages in Native American and indigenous issues.
The Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS) program at the University of Texas at Austin has a global, comparative focus with a particular strength in the Americas. We support students and faculty whose research engages with the languages, cultures, histories, and current political struggles of indigenous peoples. NAIS provides university-wide recognition for the work of professors and graduate students in the field; establishes a community of scholars dedicated to the field; and facilitates the university-wide coordination of events such as conferences and visits by activists, authors, scholars, and other speakers. We also provide a home on campus for indigenous undergraduates and graduate students.
