I have had nothing but ongoing issues with the quality of repairs, and the lack of availability of mechanic to work on our vehicles and the rude obnoxious and outright terrible behavior of the mechanic and the tiny old lady that works at this car center. The Navy Exchange car center runs like a tiny repair shop in the desert that knows that the customers have no choice but to use them. The mechanic is ALWAYS in training almost 300 days a year, and I am not even kidding of those days. He is never available and it is only him. He works fast but he makes many errors and does not seem like he is sure about what he is doing. The tiny old lady that works in the shop should not be employed to work at a cool aid stand. Her customer service is terrible. I have used many navy car care centers before and I have never been treated so terrible and given such terrible service in my life. They should remove the word NAVY EXCHANGE from this car center because it doesn't meet the high standard of the military. We are not rich so we have no choice but to utilize the services here because of the prices, which are pretty low. On October 4th 2021 I took my Dodge pickup for an oil change /service. The service was done and the no washer flued was put into the vehicle I almost got into an accident when I went to use the wiper blades. As a result of the service the mechanic recommended that I get the belt and replaced $160, Engine tune up ,spark plugs and boots replaced $350, Transmission , break fluid replaced $400 and new pads, rotors recommended replacement front and rear. On October 25th 2021 I took my truck to get the serpentine belt tensioner replaced, spark plugs and boot replacement etc. Driving away my truck was making a terrible noise it never made before he said it would go away, it did not. THE MACHANIC FIXED THE PROBLEM ON APRIL14 2022. Yes almost 6 months later because he was in training and was unavailable many many many times. I have never seen another mechanic working. I wouldn't bore you guys with service and treatment for the other vehicle I will just jump forward to my most recent issue. I called again today 15th November and I was asked by the little old lady to state my business which I did. I wanted to talk directly to the mechanic because I wanted to clarify the price etc. I knew talking to anyone else would only cause me to repeat myself twice and it would be pointless. The little old lady told me she informed the mechanic about what I said. 12 pm came and I received no call so I called again, being polite and trying to be sure my information was correctly relayed. about 130pm I got into my truck and drove to the Care Center, which was only 2mins away. I entered the store and on seeing me the little old lady closed the door to the mechanic shop and remained out of sight. There was another lady working the cashier and she seem to have made an error so she needed the little old lady to help fix it she went into the room and that's when she came out. I parked in the back so I walked by the workshop and both the mechanic and the little old lady were talking I turned my head and saw her from where I was she and the mechanic saw me and closed the door so they would have no contact. I calmly went into the store and when the little old lady had reason to speak to me she did and I explained to her what I previously told her on the phone and just as I thought she said most of the info I would have to discuss with the mechanic himself, SIGH!! At present I am awaiting a call from the mechanic and its 3pm the center closes at 4pm... To be Continued........
Gas prices are good. You can get some mechanical work done here as well.
2 pumps for driver side gas filling are closed. This is creating a backup of vehicles.
Great place to get cheaper gas. Must have military ID to access the base. Small store has items for basic automotive needs... Washer fluid, batteries, tools, etc. Convenient location. Can get busy at times, but it's worth the wait especially with gas prices today.
Gas prices are good. You can get 5 cents per gallon discount when using Military Star credit card. Auto shop and mechanic are fair and trustworthy.
This was my first time here and I wasn’t greeted when I walked in, older lady was at the counter and just looked up at me then back at her phone, I inquired about getting a tire repaired she looked up at me and said you’ll have to leave it all day and went right back to her phone and I asked if I left it right now when could I pick it up? because obviously her answer was extremely vague, she looked up took a deep breath and in a very condescending voice said you leave it and pick it up this after noon. I said okay thank you turned around and walked out. I would have expected this if I was off base but not from a Nex facility. I needed their assistance when I was in a penchant with a near flat tire and the customer service or concern was subpar to say the least. Gas is cheaper and Safeway or Costco if you have a membership, pump constantly have see cashier outside normal business hours and the sign by the road historical shows the incorrect prices.
Fuel prices are ok, store and propane filling hours are a joke. Propane price is the highest around. Staff is hit or miss. Some very friendly, others extremely rude. The carwash is low end at best and is known to eat the quarters.
Great little gas station. The staff isn't always the greatest and don't always open on time. The autoport is good and always helpful. They are NOT the cheapest gas around, Safeway if you shop there, COSTCO, and the gas station near Walgreens are always cheaper. They are closed at 1800 for shift change for about 15 minutes. Propane closes at 1600. About $15 to fill a tank. PRINT YOUR RECEIPT!!! When you get gas there is a $5 off $50 coupon on the back. You can use that at the exchange.
Since I discovered gas was available at Bangor I always buy it there. Convenient to my normal errands route, usually a better price than the 'outside' stations I used to frequent, and I can combine a stop with a Commissary visit, maybe McDonalds if it's lunchtime. ... And the Bangor base is green, and shady for my lunch stop, and attractive. Also have a strong connection with the base ... it's where I retired from.
The guys working in the autoport will almost always come out and answer questions or listen to your car if it's making a weird noise. And the woman who works the auto store is always helpful as well.
