So so so cool. If your in the area check it out. The tree house was like something out of a magazine. The kids playground could definitely use a major overhaul. One slide is like 2 feet off the ground. Overall a nice park though! We did a little BBQ while there aswell. There were porta potties which were maintained and quite clean
We loved these hikes. They are well-marked and the difficulty is also described. Some of the trails have been broken up by weather, so there are overlooks that are closed, for instance. I beg of the folks who frequent, though: please pick up your trash. There are trash cans at the trailheads. Or other folks passing through, bring a bag to pick up some trash. It is tragic how it interferes with the look of the place not to mention the harm it can have on our waterways and foodways. Playground: There’s at least one, really cool looking castle playground. Restrooms: There were clean port-o-potties near the mines.
The playground is a sad, unfriendly place where you are reminded of a once happy, bright playing area people would bring their children for an afternoon of glorious play now reduced to nothing more than a place for your child to be seriously hurt. Thank God the hospital is so close. The walking trail is beautiful though and was much more pleasant. Dog-friendliness: There's plenty of sniffs for your dog
Nice enough park for a short day hike. Most of the trails are well managed and clean. Plenty of places for kids. Cons: outer trails are not maintained and covered with lots of broken glass and large garbage. At least one overlook platform is in very poor, unsafe condition.
A nice park right within the city of Scranton! The waterfall/gorge area is beautiful, but a lot of people ignore all the signage and go over the fence. It's sad to see so many people ignore safety signs and then have to hear about people dying! We tried calling about it, but the hours of the rangers are pathetic. But a nice place to go for a little walk.
Great place to hike and swim! If you visit this area on a hot day, make sure to being swimming gear as there are several areas you can get into the water.
A perfect spring day hike. A nice way to explore the sights and nature in Pennsylvania. The trails were well maintained and easy to navigate. I had a lot of fun and there was much to see
Located about a half mile on route 81 in Scranton this park has a lot of trails and activities to discover including the Paul Kanjorski Bridge, the David Wenzel tree house with a nice view of the mountains and a Gorge with a beautiful waterfall, however the trails are not well maintained there is glass and garbage around the trails and also not well marked so watch your step and take a picture of the map at the beginning of the park for the best reference Playground: Plenty of playgrounds for children Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly park
Nice place to come for a walk. Mostly stroller friendly unless you take the hike all the way down. Pool has been shut down and is now a small wetlands. Only portapotties open for bathrooms that we saw. Restrooms: Closed/none. Only saw one porta-potty on our walk.
I spent the day in Scranton, starting with Nay Aug Park. Where do I start? The best thing about the park are the signs. Walkways are broken, with plenty of potholes. If you'd like a sprained ankle, this is your place. Walking to the water, garbage cans overflowed. The playground was dirty and unkempt. Swimming pool area? Total joke. There are no swimming pools. Sand Volleyball court, plenty of grass growing. No working toilets. Really? To Mayor Cognetti and the parks department... this could be a beautiful park. Somebody needs to step up ! This park is embarrassing!! Playground: Dirty Restrooms: Portal potties only ! Just embarrassing
