Students helping to create healthier communities in eastern North Carolina.
YHSC’s intent is to encourage high school students to pursue a career path in healthcare and become involved with their community through meaningful service. Our idea is to provide fun and interactive opportunities to get students interested in the health field so that they can continue their service into their future careers. YHSC is a program present all over the nation that operates in 33 AHECs in 20 different states. In order to complete this program, students must seek out volunteer opportunities and service learning projects to complete a minimum of 50 hours a year. Participation in YHSC can result in potential advantage for college admission and scholarships and special recognition.
The mission of YHSC is to increase the number of diverse high school students who matriculate into post secondary health career programs.
