Welcome to the Nester Hose Company. This Volunteer Fire Company has been providing fire protection to the citizens of Geneva for more than 100 years. The company was founded in 1886 by Samuel K Nester, a prominent member of the community at that time.
We presently have a membership of 240 volunteers. At the present time the company responds to an average of 350 jobs per year, In addition to firefighting the membership spends many hours in training in order to keep up on their firefighting skills. The company actively participates and supports many community events.
The Nester Hose Company is one of three volunteer companies in the city. The other two are the C.J. Folger Hook & Ladder Co, and the Hydrant Hose Company.
Our Department is a combination Department with a career staff of 18 firefighters and a Career Chief. We operate out of the Genesee St Station which was built in 1999.
The Engine Currently assigned to the Nester Hose Company is a 2012 Pierce Impel carrying 500 gallons of Water and a 1500 GPM pump and is often referred to as the ‘City Engine”.
In addition we, along with the two other companies, operate a 1996 Pierce Heavy Rescue.
Mission Statement
The combined efforts of the volunteer and paid staff of the Geneva Fire Department shall always be directed towards a fire safe community. The fire department shall attempt to educate the community on all matters of fire safety, while maintaining a well equipped and properly trained fire suppression force.
The City of Geneva Fire Department is an Insurance Services Organization (ISO) Class 3.
