When I was growing up, this was called home cooking:D. To cook food with this much flavor and to cook it to this level of perfection requires the secret ingredient. It takes love. Thank you, Ma'am, for sharing your love with your customers. Just finished eating a wonderful meal of Smothered Chicken, Greens, Pinto Beans, Cornbread, Mashed Potatoes and Macaroni and Cheese. Topped off by some of the most wonderful Fried Apples I have ever tasted. Ms. Nettie is an AWESOME cook and a dear, dear Lady. God fearing and filled with love. I got to close my eyes and travel back to my childhood today. So much like Mother's home cooking. Thank you, Ms. Nettie, for sharing your table with us. Saving the cornbread for dessert ;
This place is completely unique. The food is pure comfort food... meaning it is not dietary. The owner loves to chat and is very involved in the community.Dine in: NoOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: Yes
Everything she makes is seasoned or cooked in a way that is *better* than you have ever had it before. I can tell you that. No matter what it is, or how simple of a thing it is, you will be in disbelief that it tastes so much better than you expect it to. Even simple sides such as green beans. You think you've had green beans before. You think you know how they taste. You are wrong. Out of any travel experience I have had, this place is the one that just blows my mind every time I eat the food. It really is astounding. I find it difficult to put into words just how impressive her food is. I am always shaking my head in disbelief when I try a new dish. "WHY?? HOW can this insert dish here taste so good, and be so much better than I've ever had it before??". This review is not hyperbole. You will see.
Nettie Bell doesn't disappoint. Her steak and gravy on creamed potatoes are amazing! I have never tasted anything like them. And now we are eating Sunday lunch with Nettie Bell from now on. Greasy greens, Mac and cheese along with the dried beans.....make you want to slap someone they were so good! You want great soul food, go see Nettie Bell!
The food here is delicious, and Miss Nettie Bell is as wonderful a host as she is a cook. I had a plate with pintos, green beans and mashed potatoes with cornbread, my friend had a plate with pulled pork, etc. and we each took a plate home for a family member. The chocolate pound cake is scrumptious, as well. This is a definite must visit!
To tried this for the first time today, my only regret is not trying it sooner. The smoked chicken was good af. The Mac and cheese and green beans were very good. Please stop by the owner is a friendly person and offered good service. Please support.
Nettie Bells is what real soul food is all about. Fresh, perfectly cooked, and made with love and pride. Great conversation, generous portions, and very reasonable pricing. It was a joy to eat family recipes that you know have been passed down for many generations. Places like this are few and far between these days. For the price of a meal at the drive thru you can get some real food! Do yourself a favor and give it a try.
This restaurant has the best food and service in all Morgan County. Please stop by if you ever in the area of Somerville! You won’t be disappointed!
Five stars for taste, four stars for service because of the wait and offered selection. They definitely need more advertising. I would also suggest chicken and dumplings. Overall very good cooking!!!!!!
Okay y'all this place needs six stars not five she has the best chicken you are going to ever have it falls off the bone and hit your mouth with so much flavor Euro to fall in love and want more don't get me started on her beans this place is like you walking in having dinner at their table you are going to fall in love and bring you friends back the next day
