Excellent collection of books, periodicals, magazines, newspapers etc. Allows borrowing of music items viz. Ukelele, drums, badminton rackets and so much more. Library arranges books from affiliated libraries which are not available with them. Overall, a great place to visit!! Highly recommended to become a member as well!!
Such a beautiful space...not a place to find quiet though! Drums as part of an exhibit blaring under the windows breaking silence. Next time they loud talkers and no one would do anything about it.
This is one of the worst libraries in new bedford especially the children's part of the library, the staff constantly check in on the parents and of the kids and say shhhh! Also the staff harass your every move. They literally locked all the outlets so you can't charge your phone if it dies. They are extremely prejudiced against homeless people, it's so sad... I hate bringing my kid here and make sure your phone is charged
Great place to relax and get some quiet time, just disappointed they got rid of 90% of the older automotive books...They were very useful if you owned a car from 1999 and older.
It's just like any other library ,quiet but some things helpful it's all reliable
I could spend hours just admiring this gorgeous historic building with original light fixtures & paintings going back to New Bedford's whaling days. Truly amazing building. The staff is friendly & very helpful. Copies are only 10cents per page & a fax is only $1 per page. Try paying that at an office supply store. I didnt need my library card, but to use a computer, one is required. I believe its still free. Their computers are ancient, but functional. I read somewhere they have a geology room & help is available with an appointment. This library is so beautiful the dated equipment takes nothing from it.
I love it here. Nice and quiet and plenty to read if you need to kill some time and engage your mind.
This library always intrigued me when I was young. I loved the smell and to be completely able to get lost in a book world. I believe it turned me into an avid reader to this date. I would love to take a trip back to New Bedford to revisit this wonderful site.
Me and my daughter Luna are frequently there and we have to say it's one of our favorite places and we love the library the staff is wonderful
Friendly staff, clean and quiet atmosphere. I always find a piece of mind at the library. There are also study rooms for meetings and to study.
