I've been going to New Day Bakery for over 15 years. Food is always tasty and very fresh. Dishes are always consistently prepared and portions are generous. They have a very large menu, so there is something for everyone. Outside of prepared dishes, they have a wide selection of baked goods. New Day Bakery is open for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. All items are available anytime of the day. Staff is nice and curious. I'd recommend New Day Bakery highly. Update- Had another Avacado Salad today. Portions seemed a little smaller. Maybe they are cutting back, not sure. Still very good and fresh
When you walk in the door the smells of fresh baked pastries attack you. Breakfast was good although my oatmeal was a bit watery for my taste it was incredibly fresh, with an add of brown sugar and blueberry topping it filled me right up.
Perfect spot for breakfast or lunch; trust me I came for both on the same visit! Fresh bread and pastries every day. Service was quick, friendly, and very helpful. Also a great coffee hangout; inside seating perfect for that rainy day, the patio was sunny for me and let me kick back and relax! Make sure to check out the daily specials, it surprised me!
I was advised to come here from a coworker. I was looking forward to it, but my experience was awful. I ordered my food and the server gave me my food. But as I started eating it, a lady from the kitchen ran out and said they mixed up the orders and took the food they had served me and gave it to the person who ordered it then brought me my correct salad. A minute after I started eating again, I found tiny clear worms crawling through my salad. I brought it to an employee who laughed it off, didn't apologize, and refused to comp my entire lunch. I left hungry, grossed out, and not feeling like a valued customer. A lot of people, especially older Eugene natives, love this place and their bread looked fantastic, so I'm sure my first and only experience was a rare oddity. Nevertheless, it was a terrible experience, and I will be filing a dispute with my bank for being charged for such an awful time since the employees were unwilling to make it right themselves. :
Always a pleasure and joy. Their day old section is wonderful, and lunch is stellar. Highly recommend just chilling and listening to the piano players that come through.
Bill is the coolest guy around best food ever
Huge selection of food to chose from. Huevos rancheros weren't stellar but not terrible. Breakfast burrito was fresh but again nothing to write about. Mediocre meals in a larger space with a energetic amount of nice people.
Cute place, nice food, I actually met the owner Bill and his wife Lorraine really cute couple. Edit: I've heard something very unfortunate about this place. As I'm somewhat new to this part of Eugene I tried different places and since I have some friends born & raised here I run things by them. When I told them I tried New Day they told me not to patronize that place. They told me Lorraine wasn't the owners wife first of all, then they told me that it isn't a shock at all that I would think that considering the way he "handles his female employees." It is hearsay and since I've been asking around, I've heard a lot. I don't recommend supporting that business. Whatever inappropriateness you can imagine, New Day has seen it.
Great local sport for breakfast in the Whittaker Neighborhood. Just the right amount of quirky. Even with a wall mounted menu that's not terribly easy to interpret, the staff is helpful and they'll be happy to walk you through options that aren't even on the menu. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Fun food options and good coffee. Annoying that coffee refills are a dollar while you're enjoying a meal, but I have to believe this practice is in place because a free refill program was throughly abused at some point. Still, it's an annoyance. Can't think of any other breakfast joint in town that embraces this practice. If I didn't like the place I'd still be stoked with the clearly labeled gender neural bathrooms. Why can't these be adopted more universally? This sort of positive action makes me believe they're likely great community partners in a host of ways I'm not even aware of. Just makes me want to continue my support of the establishment. Five stars, but the additional coffee charge is still a burr under my saddle.
The poppy seed bread is great. There are plenty of seatings both indoors and outdoors. You can see the inside of their kitchen.
