About Us
On January, 22 1896, 15 Master Masons and one Entered Apprentice residing in the New Smyrna area were granted a charter of Free and Accepted Masons under The Grand Lodge of Florida. The town at that time was simply named New Smyrna and the Lodge took the same name and was granted the lodge number of 149. This is why the Lodge is called New Smyrna instead of New Smyrna Beach. The first meeting was held on the 2nd floor of the C.L. Dohn Livery Stables on the corner of Faulkner and Canal streets. Meetings continued at this location until Friday October 13th 1905 when the building was destroyed by fire. It seemed all was lost! The Members of the Lodge did as Masons always do; “Masons always rise to the occasion.” They met in various locales over the next few years, including the Werfelman Building until 1927 when the present Temple was
constructed. For more History on our lodge visit our History page.
