The events here were fun-filled. Seeing many folks dressed up was half of the fun, but I was not happy with the very long lines. It reminded me of Great Adventure. This basically is a cash only venue. I couldn't confirm this, for everything but I will tell you that you can not purchase any food or beverage with out cash so make sure your kids eat before you get there as you may not want to wait on line. I gave 4* because after waiting on a very long slow line I discovered that the cashier was holding up the line as she proofed customers ID to make jokes about them not looking like their photo, etc. and was unable to purchase an alcoholic beverage on a very warm day. The shops had great items to purchase. There were a lot of handmade goodies, face painting, hair braiding, and henna. It is really fun for all ages. One last thing, try and do your very best to get there when it opens. The wait to get in is approximately 45 min at 11a.m. I would bet it gets worse. We left at 5 it was great to show up at this time, but good luck with finding a parking spot.
This was my second year attending and it was even better than last year!! There is always so much to do, all of the shows, the shops and the food! I recommend doing the Falconry show, the SuperNova Strong Woman show, and the final joust of the day. There are lots of jewelry shops and other fantastical souvenirs and the shop keepers are wonderful. There are a ton of food options, and I loved the fried mushrooms and cinnamon sugar covered marshmallows. Whatever you choose to do, you are guaranteed to have an incredible time :
I went on a weekend. Got there at 8, paid $20 for parking and stayed until 7pm. Overall it was pretty fun. The park is huge and there are many different shows. Also? The shows happen at different times so you don’t have to feel rushed and you can create your plan at your leisure. Food is VERY expensive. More than they charge at Disney to put it in context. For that reason alone I will not offer 5 stars. $20 for a beer is not acceptable to me.
Traveled here for the fair and it was a wonderful time IF YOU PLAN AHEAD. Get to the fair early and pay for the preferred parking , fair opens at 10am we got there at 9 and there were already plenty of people there. The day sold out on tickets so purchase ahead. The vendors and food is what you expect at a ren faire. The shows are top notch! Wonderful time!
Nice experience. It's like a theme park with permanent buildings. Be warned that there is extreme traffic into it and out of it. The earlier you go in the day I would think the less the traffic would be. I went for the 10 a.m. opening and still waited in almost an hour line of traffic. I would not recommend the paid parking lots because they are very small and they pack you in like sardines. The free lots are much larger and it's literally like a 5-10 minute walk to the entrance depending on how quickly you walk. If you don't want to walk or you have difficulty walking there is a shuttle bus that will take you right to the main entrance from the parking lot. I thought there would be long lines for the ticket booth but to my surprise there was basically no line. They do have porta potties in the parking lots as well as all throughout the park. In fact it seemed like there was hundreds of them. Way too many. They even had porta potties next to the flush bathrooms. I personally think porta potties are the nastiest things on the planet so I was very pleased to find the flush bathrooms. And they were clean which was a plus. They have a flush bathroom across the street from the main entrance as well as inside the park. Lots of shops to look in. Lots of cool stuff but I thought the pricing was high. Especially when you can buy most of the stuff online for less. The shows were ok. I didn't think they were particularly fantastic. Based on reviews and videos I saw I think they do the same shows year after year. They do offer a nice selection of food however that too is way overpriced especially for the portion size and the lines for food are ridiculously outrageous. You will not be on a line less than an hour for anything except the pickle carts. There basically isn't a food on the planet that I want to stand over an hour in line for. I don't understand why a place of this size that has been doing it for so long has those crazy lines. That's obviously a management issue. The only thing they sell is food that's already prepared that you literally have to put on a plate and put on the counter for the person to grab and pay. I could go to a sit-down restaurant and eat and be gone in less time that you stand in line for food at this place. I would say probably 50 to 75% of the people that are there come just for the food and to walk around a little so they really should make the food experience a lot better. I got a potato and corn bread bowl for $14. It was definitely not worth it. There was no potatoes in it and it was like they put some creamy corn from the can into bread. The food lines seemed to go down to next to nothing around 4 so I would either recommend getting there very early and eating right away or waiting until 4 or so to eat. Definitely a very large place. Lots of walking. Easy to spend 2 to 3 hours there with a quick walk. You can definitely spend four to five hours there. The Viking area was cool and the actors were friendly. I like that the place has hands-on experiences like bow and arrow shooting, ax throwing, throw tomatoes at the jester... I didn't stay for the end of the day joust because I read that the traffic to get out of there at that point is the same as getting in horrible so I left around 5 and had no problem getting out but it's a shame because I would have loved to have seen the joust. Overall I would say it was a good day and definitely would recommend it. I doubt I would go back again anytime soon because it seems they have the same shows every year and the same things in the shops so no point in going back. Also you spend quite a bit of money between the entrance fee, food, souvenirs, games....it's really a lot of money. Plan to spend around $100 per person which I think is way too much. Also keep the n mind many things are cash only so bring lots of cash or pay the ATM fees.
Amazing day. Awesome amount of friendly people and staff. GREAT shows are available all around the park. Plan your day and see as many performances as possible. If you're into the jousting, see all the shows. One story line leads into the next . Individually, all are great, but all together, they tell an awesome story. Absolutely a worthwhile experience. Parking is available with bussing to the gate. Lots of good food and drinks . Lots af restrooms and facilities available all around the park.
Think of anime con mixed with carnival, that's how I felt about this Renaissance Faire. I got to the faire at 9:30AM wanted to get there a little earlier after reading all the horror reviews on circling for 3 hours to try to find a free parking spot and there were so many empty parking spots in the free lot like 90% of the field was empty!. Food is pretty expensive, my friends got a tiny styrofoam bowl of chicken with rice for $15. I brought my own lunch and left it in the car, and went back to the car to eat around 1pm and came back to the faire. There were still several parking spots available. Meanwhile, surprisingly one of the preferred parking was filled up. It's a pretty far walk from free parking parking to the faire, took me around 10 mins each way if you're going to do what I did, wear comfortable shoes. I regret wearing boots as you're going up a hill. There were several shows to see, carnival games for $5, up charged knickknacks- no different from any faire or con, and guests dressed up in amazing costumes. Around 2-3pm a flurry of additional guests arrived and it became difficult to access stores, ATMs, and food stands. All and all, if you read the other reviews and you're fine with the prices, like or is ok with crowds, if not I would recommend you go early and leave by 2pm, enjoy a few shows will need to get there a little early to get a seat, need to show up the the jousting at least half an hour early to get a seat, then I think you'll enjoy it. I dressed up and enjoyed a few shows. Probably won't do this again as I'm not a fan of crowds, but it was a nice first experience.
It felt like a different world. We reached there at 11 am and the nearby parking lot was full. So, we parked at a distant parking lot as guided by the fair people, and there were school busses to take us to the fair. There were so many awesome shows going on. The best thing we found was that most of the visitors were dressed as medieval times. My son was so excited to visit the queen, knight jousting and the castle.
First time going… super fun. Everything is a bit expensive, but it’s worth it. The staff are super amazing and funny.. I definitely want to go again. We caught heavy downpour by 430 but got to see most everything since we got there when it opened. Fun fun fun
I attended this Faire for the first time this past weekend. I had a great time. I recommend seeing the Knights joust before you leave for the day. I will say that the clothing vendors are overpriced. I get that it's a costume, but come on. A skirt made of cotton selling for $280? You can get a whole period outfit from Amazon for $50. I will be back next year but with a costume bought from Amazon.
