David @ newcomer made this sad time so much easier to handle. He made sure to listen and take in everything we wanted for my mother's funeral. Him and the staff handled everything with love and care. Everything was beautiful and I can not thank them enough. I would HIGHLY recommend using them for your loved ones.
My family did prearrangement planning for our mother. We had a meeting with Greta. She was very professional helpful to make the arrangement’s that we wanted for my mom. Thank you Greta. My mom passed away staff came and picked my mom up. Had a meeting with David W. Very sincere and compassionate. The wake was very special staff was there all the way to help me with the next steps, funeral. Very difficult time newcomer’s staff thank you so much. Very thoughtful, compassionate and helpful.
I had to visit New York from Las Vegas due to my uncle passing away. The coroner's office would not release the keys to my Uncle's house until I arranged to have a funeral home to pick up his body. When I initially spoke with New Comer from Las Vegas, I was told everything was fine and they already spoke with the Coroner's office in Rochester so I'd have no problems when I arrived and keys would be ready for me to pick up. I arrived in Rochester the same evening and went directly to the Coroner's office. I was told they would not release the keys until the funeral home has guaranteed pick up of the body. I called New Comer & had to leave a message with their answering service. I received a call back from the funeral director female, can't remember name. She was the most arrogant, rude person who showed no empathy whatsoever that I've ever dealt with in my life. After spending an entire day dealing with the sudden death of my Uncle then trying to navigate through the laws of a city/county unfamiliar to me, dealing with her was just the cherry on top of my worst day ever. She demanded I come in and sign paperwork and put a deposit payment before they'd agree to pick up the body. I've dealt with many deaths in my life and have never been told I must give a deposit. Most funeral homes will take payment from the life insurance & I couldn't get the keys to his house to get the paperwork without the funeral home guaranteeing pick up of body. So after round & round of nothing but the rude runaround New Comer gave me, I opted for another funeral home. After telling that woman what a B she was, I hung up and contacted Mark Stephens at Merton H Kay's Funeral Home. Mr. Stephens was nothing but compassionate & understanding. He immediately made arrangements to pick up my Uncle's body and made sure I had the keys to his house within a couple of hours. He arranged a beautiful service for my uncle and patiently waited for the life insurance to pay the bill. I would never recommend using New Comer! I recommend going for a less commercialized company and select a family run funeral home who will give you the empathy, patience, and compassion you deserve while dealing with losing a loved one.
My mother passed away unexpectedly and the next morning my father and I came into Newcomer. We worked with Kathryn Lindsay and she was so wonderful. She knew when to make us laugh and smile. She is so friendly and knew right where our concerns were. She is the bright light we needed to help us though. In a difficult time, she is who you need to help you. I have just prepaid my funeral expenses with Newcomer Funeral Home. They handled my father's funeral and it was absolutely seamless all I had to do was make one phone call.... That's what I want for my two daughters simplicity and ease in their time of grief so I have prepaid mine and will sleep very soundly tonight knowing this is taken care of. Greta at Newcomer was EXCELLENT to deal with. She was so helpful and friendly overall it was a very awesome experience. I highly recommend them!!
Kate does an amazing job. The services she coordinated were seamless, heartfelt, memorable. Everything went very smooth and she was there every step of the way. Highly reccomend.
Kate took such good care of us when my mom died. She made such a hard and emotional time a little easier with her kind and comforting personality.
I worked with Funeral director Mark McNelis who was a pleasure to work with from the start. Not only was Mark consistent but he was very compassionate and understanding during this difficult time for me and my family. He walked my family and me through the entire process and went above and beyond to ensure that all the details were right and that I was satisfied. The Newcomer staff was very supportive and gracious hosts. I highly recommend New Comer Funeral Home Westside Chapel.
Mark McNelis was amazing! He made this process after my mothers death very easy and I felt that my mother really sent him in the best time. I couldn't ask for an amazing funeral home.
