The Carey Historical Society was established on Aug. 29, 2008, and the Newhard House Museum on Sept. 19, 2008, to preserve the cultural heritage of Carey.
The Newhard House is the site of the Carey Historical Society Museum. Located in one of the oldest houses in Carey, the museum is the former home of the George and Josephine Newhard family. The house is now part of the Carey Historical Society thanks to the generous donation of Isabelle Zender Wiget, who purchased the home from the Newhard family years ago.
Admission is free and hours are Saturdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m. March through November. Appointments can be made for student or adult group tours or special occasions throughout the year.
Gifts of artifacts and monetary donations provide essential support. Mailing address is P.O. Box 202, Carey, Ohio 43316
