I give 1 star for the fact that the cemetery is now *finally* opened following a shutdown of 2 years for COVID. What is more embarrassing is that Newport Council did not bother to maintain the cemetery during the time it was shut and that they could have filled in pot holes and maintenance in the time they closed it to the public?
Discovered this gem during the last 18 months. Nice walk around a quite large cemetery. Magnificent trees and wildlife like Squirrels. The graves bring about some emotion due to the pandemic and military buried here. There are also some magnificent gravestones, some sadly neglected, but I guess that is down to their age and no relatives to care for them.
A beautiful cemetery with the most caring and dedicated staff you will ever meet. They are so compassionate and make what are often very difficult times for people, an easier experience. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Jo Hume, Ian Watts & Son Funeral Directors & Monumental Masons
If I could give a one star I would, don't bother trying to contact them from the internet telephone number it is never answered and the office no longer exists as directed by the internet to St. Woolas they have moved offices.
Well done to the Council for keeping the gates shut NOT.
Great place to stay, bed & breakfast not the best I've ever had but serves it's purpose nonetheless.
