Jim Farley retired as Vice President of News at WTOP in January 2014 and now consults broadcast and digital news and news/talk organizations. WTOP was the highest billing radio station in the United States during his last 4 years there, even though Washington DC is only the 7th largest radio market (source: BIA). WTOP had enormous ratings, both 12+ and 25-54 and won scores of awards including Marconi's, Crystals and National Edward R. Murrow Awards. Prior to joining WTOP in 1996 he was a news executive with ABC and NBC News. He started in the news business at 1010 WINS in New York in 1966 where his official title was "copyboy."
