Newton Fire Museum

About

The Newton Fire Museum is located in the historic Spring Street firehouse, built in 1891. Our collection includes fascinating firefighting equipment dating back to the days when horses were used to pull the fire apparatus.

Description

The Newton Fire Museum was established in 1986 as a way for the Newton Fire Department to preserve and share it's rich history and educate the public on the history of the fire service. The museum houses 170+ years worth of historical memorabilia from the Newton Fire Department which includes an 1873 Clapp and Jones Steam Engine, an 1863 squirrel tale hand pumper and an 1842 parade hose carriage, turnout gear through the ages and hundreds of photographs from incidents around Sussex County.
