About

Bmx dirtjump bicycle facility

Description

Hello everyone,
My name is Jason George, President of Next Generation Bike Parks, and would like to fill you in on how this land we were proposed to by the board on Jurupa Valley City Council came about. Dave Brown, a race announcer that would blare your nickname like knowone else, one day decided to look me up for some reason. So i had responded to him coming and picking me up, since i hadn't had a license because of seizures sustained to concussions from rarely wearing a helmet or pads for any matter. Just one day after a hard fall and last concussion, things in life just kinda went blank in my mind, friends left cause they didn't know me anymore. That was 2005, and I had the good life worked full time for the city of Duarte, and part time for city of Azusa in Parks, and Facility Maint., while going to Devry University with 3 semesters away from graduation earning a solid 3.57 G.P.A, but still reppin Sick Trails on my bike everyday in La Verne Ca. I was lovin the income being 21, Brand New Full size truck, and especially riding with pros at trails all over California (909)area, and the stops along the way to vegas such as gordy's, money trails, and ricardo lagunas yard. Then from my head being beaten up from concussions, I started drinking to ease a depression, and anxiety feeling of rage i would tear from being so angry. Seizures had been present in my body since I was 16, and then at 21 i lost it in life.
All it took was one day, Mr. Dave Brown picks me up with his son Brad, and we drive up to Phelan to build a little BMX track for Julia loop. In the process of listning to my ipod, and hearing the rumble of the skip loader moving, i slowly start to get this mid-range lift in my chest as if I was happy again. As we increased our progress on the track we are about done for the day and i sculpted a dirt jump out the track and it just felt right again. I think it was the second day back on my bike in all those years and upon cleaning up I hit it again floated the feet almost landing on a dog, I felt that rush again. I immediatly ran up the hill to hit it again and clicked! A stretched Nothing!, as if I hadnt ever laid down my bike.
That excitement alone was when i was went home and not only could i not sleep i felt happiness and started to cry. I hadn't been up, or lifted as that moment in so long, I just kept the video my girlfriend had taken on repeat over, and over, and when I landed all tucked with the back dipped low all sly. I couldn't stop taking pics of anything BMX related so i wouldn't forget about it the next day. With all the meds that I had been on, 3000 mg depakote 900 mg dillantin along with the pain meds and anxiety I couldn't really judge distances too well as you can imagine.
From then on, I documented everything, watching it over and over, then stopped stressing life. I acceppted the fact I was going to never have a license again but they could never take that freedom away when your weightless and peaked 20 feet high, all dipped, starring down at a dirt landing with the total silence clearing all the bad I would ever feel. Then I watched whenever I would write down how I would feel after I would drink, deppressed then i looked at life living at home, the same, and just couldnt ever get a reading on what triggered them. Whenever I would ride I would be good for a day or two then right back to thinking down.
During the summer, this idea to build a little set on the side of Daves house came to mind. Most the time I couldn't sleep from thoughts just swirling around, so I was out there at sunrise untill dusk. Then I was only at my house in upland three out of the seven days a week just using those jumps as therapy. I couldn't care less that Brad, my little mentee was learning how to jump again at the time and blowing up the lips cuz it was mostly sand and it took a while to import the clay to make it hard. However, the feeling I got as i would change the way the face of the jump looked, or finished a set was so at peaceful in the open air. The compliments and appreciation for cleaning up the trail, the equestrian, and pedestrians who used it was a huge role in my confidence level, where I finally forgot to take my meds. I figured if it happens oh well, nothing new, but as I constantly rode and kept those positive feelings. I started getting that life experience and interaction with the public again, I am now 4 months seizure free and April 1rst, when I do get a clean bill of health and I'm going to get to drive again!
Four months into this, I was shaping the last landing, and the General Manager and Parks and Recreation Director, handed Brad, because I wouldn't listen, a Cease and Desist order. The tractor pulled up which even if he wanted too I worked too hard and wanted to ride one last run. But, the call was made and the bulldozer took off and I got a chance to speak at the council meeting the following night. I just spoke from the heart, and asked what bad were they doing? They had kept me at peace, and with the way they looked like works of art, with the little slope for drainage. As well as meeting every cop, sheriff, and even a La County Highway Patrol, nobody cared. They loved the fact i would clean up the horse trail pulling the boulders out and cleaning up the trail from trash. We respect our trails and thats just trail ettiquete. i don't know what it was, but oct 12th that huge moon whether i won or not, I devoted to pushing on and feeling that positive vibe.
The next day, Dave gets an email from the General Manager, saying Jurupa Valley would designate this area for you if want this area to build! They approved for me to have one last jam so i called everyone, but the individuals who came were far from who I would ever expect. Mike Saavedra and I kinda had a falling out years ago but out of respect i invited, then Tommy Vartabedian, Anthony Lopez, Daniel French, Oreo, it just made me so happy it took til 3 days after, for the shock to wear off.
I was given a second chance, being seizure free now and doing what I love. Teaming up with So Cal Bike Parks owner, Tommy vartabedian doing it for his little boy Stephen Vartabedian, Dave and Brad Brown, Next Generation Bike Parks, are set to build a place where kids can have that same opportunity but in their community. The proper safety equipment would be required, and available. BMX bikes are in our vision for rental for those who don't have them. We are building something with NextGen"s Creative Art and Design Director Mike Saavedra. Mike will design and lay out the level design, and of course help build this wonderland. Already owner of So Cal Bike Parks, Vice President, Tommy Vartabedian with his pro racing and Honda Hills (HHL) backround. Dave Brown, with his years at every track, while announcing with his son, Brad Brown, racing expert at the track when i did for Cutting Edge Bmx and Pro Dirt jumped for T.H.E.
So when you look at the passion just in the board of directors, know that we are the builders, and all this is heading off to become a great start for tomorrows youth. We have our head in the game strong and are devoted too making this happen. Already investing in the project you can visit us at nextgenbikeparks.com.
