ABOUT US
Located on banks of Bayou Lafourche in Thibodaux, Louisiana Gulf Coast, the Department of Art at Nicholls State University, is home to 179 majors students from various states, foreign countries and the bayou region. It is recognized as being among the strongest and most active departments on the Nicholls campus.
Potential students pursuing admission to the Department of Art at Nicholls State University, as well as art teachers, guidance counselors and others are encouraged to visit the campus for a personal tour hosted by one of our faculty, students or staff. It's impossible to appreciate all the ways our Department of Art inspires creativity just by reading about it. You will most certainly need to experience it for yourself.
Visit our beautiful campus. Have lunch with some students and faculty. Sit in on one of our classes or simply stop by to check out our studios. We welcome potential students and their parents to come in and observe a class or two. MISSION
The Department of Art supports the Nicholls State University mission in offering individuals an opportunity to study the visual arts. It aims to provide:
• quality studies in all visual media (photography, graphic design, printmaking, painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture and art history)
• an environment in which students from the region can understand their personal place in the history of art
• the skills needed for both employment or continued studies in their area and a degree in visual arts, with a concentration in studio art, applied arts or art education.
