This beautiful beach is one of many on the island, and we chose to visit this one mainly based on the parking cost, which was $15 for Nassau County residents and $37 for other visitors. It's cheaper compared to other nearby beaches that charge up to $50 for parking. A small hut was located near the entrance to the beach, with bathrooms and showers in decent conditions and a small kiosk selling hot dogs, fries, nachos and beverages. That was the only place to actually buy food or drinks as there was nothing else on the beach, not even a small vendor selling chilled sodas from a cool box. That goes for any other amenities as well - you have to bring everything and also take everything out with you you'd need for a day, including sunbrella as there is zero shade and no rentals, seats or refreshments. The beach itself had two watchtowers with lifeguards on duty, allowing swimming in a relatively wide section of the beach. However, there were signs warning of rip currents, and most people stayed close to the shore anyway. The water was clean but not very clear, with some seaweed floating around. The sand was amazing—white-ish, smooth, and powdery— so be prepared to bring some of it home stuck to your feet. I was able to find some shells around, but not many. Even though there were many people on a hot, sunny Sunday afternoon, the beach didn't feel crowded, and people generally behaved well, with no excessive noise or loud music. This beach is also a good spot for birdwatching, especially near the dunes where there are fenced areas for nesting birds. However no pets or dogs are allowed on the beach or in the dunes. Despite the beach park advertising a dog park, you still need to pay for parking to enter it, which doesn't make much sense to me. Visited on a Sunday, July 2023. Paid by card.
My favorite beach can’t complain it’s so clean and people friendly. Playground: So much fun Restrooms: Very clean Picnic area: Optional
Played the newly designed Pitch and Putt course with my grandson. The course was in decent shape although it was always a flip of the coin of where the next hole was. Not well marked. My complaint is that to play the course you have to pay $12 to park. It was an additional $14 to play and they don't have scorecards. That is typical of Lido in general. I do it for my grandson our time together is precious but $26 for 40 minutes of golf is on the high side.
Great place to see red eye Seagull.
Searched dog friendly beaches via Google, it directs me to Nickerson Beach Park. 38.00 for parking, so you can take the dog to a dirt lot surrounded by trees back away behind a no access dune. The beach itself is NO DOGS, the parking is NO REFUNDS. Find out that no beach on Long Island is dog friendly. Save yourself the drive and the cost to find out the way I did. Good luck getting your pup in the waters off the Atlantic!
This is a review of the skatepark. Nickerson Park is nice because it’s by the ocean, there’s a pool close by and a concession stand in the summer. However this park isn’t free and it has the worst ground on Long Island. It has both street and vert skate features for beginners and intermediates. This park has a perfect sized mini ramp but there's some holes and a bubble on the flat. There are different sized banks, quarters and rails spread throughout the park. The prefabricated ramps are okay so there’s definitely a few spots that need some love but the ground is absolutely terrible. There are bathrooms by the concession with a beach just beyond that. Parking isn’t free they charge both residents and non-residents in the summer months and the park is only open from April to November. Fun to skate during the summertime.
Came here with my family, they definitely love the scenery and will come visit again. Lifeguard available if you are a swimmer.
A wonderful beach, great if you like a clean landscape not littered with trash and garbage who does?!. This beach is a wonderful place especially if you enjoy wildlife, housing tons of sand crabs and even much larger crabs within the ocean 1-2ft long so mind your toes!
Love it. Nestled next to Malibu Beach Club; No crowds. Seaweed can be a turn down and some shells but definitely not as much as Jones Beach. Family of 4 is only $20. The concession stand has the usuals- hotdogs, pretzels etc. Moderatly priced. The parking lot is pretty big. The best thing is from parking lot to beach area can rage from not really far to a good distance. The showers were updated too. Playground: Nice sized playground but you're going to get burned as the sun with no obstacles is right above. Restrooms: Right by the concession stands.
Pretty nice beach, not to crowded. The lifeguards are on duty. The walk from the parking lot is not too far the water. Lots of places for you to plant your base. The sand is clean for the most part. A nice playground, and there's also camping grounds, also rv parking grounds.
