NICU Helping Hands develops hospital- and community-based programs that provide education and support for families with babies in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), during their transition from hospital to home and in the event of an infant loss.

NICU Helping Hands offers a wide variety of programs for families and hospitals.
(1) Project NICU
Project NICU is our signature family support program designed to be used within a hospital's NICU to expand support services and level of education to parents and other family members who are affected by the hospitalization of a baby in the NICU.
(2) NICU Mom CONNECT
NICU Mom CONNECT is designed for the post-NICU mother who is looking for support from a peer group that has journeyed through the NICU. Monthly activities are held to encourage networking and relationship building. We have NICU Mom CONNECT programs starting across the country.
(3) The Angel Gown® Program
The Angel Gown® Program is our nationally recognized and trademarked bereavement program. Any family or hospital across the United States can receive upon request our beautiful garments to clothe a baby in the event of death. Constructed from donated wedding gowns and sewn by volunteer seamstresses across the country, each custom garment is wrapped in tissue paper and given to bereaved families in white presentation boxes with a keepsake angel, poem and Resource for Bereaved Families information sheet.
(4) Family Assistance Fund
The financial strain NICU families face often results in their inability to cover the basic living expenses of food, gas and housing. Through our gift card program we provide assistance to families across the United States to help defray expenses so that they can focus on caring for their baby in the hospital. We also provide when possible assistance with funeral costs for those families that experience infant death.
(5) One-on-One Mentoring Program
The NICU journey is overwhelming and having a relationship with a peer who is intimately familiar with the path a parent is walking can provide essential hope and support. We provide experienced and trained parent mentors to provide encouragement, understanding and guidance so that no parent makes this journey alone. Mentors are available for current NICU parents, grandparents, NICU graduate parents and parents who have lost a baby. This program is available nationally.
