Terrible experience with their NICU. Dr Manalo made decisions for our daughter without consulting us or asking for our opinions like they said they would. We only knew because we stopped by one night and found our daughter with another ng tube and no feeds. She would be progressing very well with the rest of the doctors but when Dr Manalo was on, our daughter suddenly was “declining” and needed more time to work on specific things. Dr Manalo would speak to you as if you were completely incompetent and would never explain anything she was doing or did. I would mention how another doctor said how well she was progressing and would take certain steps to progress her, but Dr Manalo would take another route making her stay a month longer than it should’ve been. The nurses were all great and very supportive. Our social worker Ballay was incredible! Nicest woman you’d ever meet. Dr Graff was an amazing surgeon. Explained everything in detail and took her time with our daughter. She was very thorough and I could not have been happier having her in our corner.
First off, I just want to say that my birthing experience at Sutter was amazing, they have so many helpful resources and all the nurses are wonderful, especially the ones in NICU. If it weren't for two doctors or neonatologists that I've encountered in NICU, I would be leaving a 5-star review. However those two doctors are on another level. I declined an optional test the details of the test are not important for the sake of this review the day my baby was born and since declining it, I was harrassed every single day by phone call and confronted numerous times in person by Dr. Rosas and Dr. Manalo while visiting my son, in an attempt to bully me into changing my mind. I was confronted with aggression and anger, bullied, talked down to, had my intelligence questioned and was even laughed at when I tried to explain my beliefs. The harrassment continued daily until I finally had enough and told them to stop harrassing me and started filing complaints with Sutter and the Medical Board of CA. Being a first time mother, post partum, and dealing with the anxiety of having a baby in NICU, the last thing you need is to receive this inappropriate and unprofessional conduct from your healthcare professionals.
Sutter Sac Peds ICU has exceeded our expectations by far! The care was not something we have ever seen before. Our 11 week old had been admitted & in their care for 6 days & 5 days another time. They are so amazing! The Dr’s, Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, & Life Therapists are incredible people. They were all very thorough & helpful in nurturing our daughter back to health. I have four children & hands down recommend this hospital without doubt. We are forever grateful for all of them.
Forced unecceary treatment on my daughter. Denied our patient rights. Allowed my daughter to suffocate while in the nicu causing her O2 saturation to fall to dangerous levels. Used that to justify keeping her longer.. Threatened me with violence by the police and cps when I requested to take my daughter to another hospital. A terrible place full of know it all people that with threaten you with gun violence if you question their recommendations.
My son Ro'Shon baby boy Jackson, didn't hav a very good start into this world. He came into this world thru a emergency C-section, and he had his cord around his neck that cut of air flow. He had to start life off in the NICU here at Sutter it was one of the most terrifying experiences I've had ever gone through. The team that took care of my son while he was in his time of need they did an awesome job. they took care of him around the clock they did things that I didn't even know was capable to be done and they made sure we both felt cared for. I would love to say thank you for all the help you gave my son and myself because I wouldn't have my little baby boy home with me if it wasn't for this team of people! He was born 4/26/18 and was able to come home 5/4/18 I thank you all God bless you!!!!
Most of the nurses are awesome. There are a few that will change orders to fit their needs on night crew. Then report false information to the social worker. Currently dealing with the fall out from that kind of treatment. Also if you have other children or jobs, hell commuting to nicu every day causes financial issues too. Youll have to ignore the kids, forget the job and your budget, they will insist you basically need to live in the cramp nicu. But you can't sleep here.. Otherwise nurses will write notes like not attentive enough or refuses to take over feedings. Accusing moms of not bonding with the baby or having post partum depression AFTER they ask you NOT to pick up the baby. And that sets off the social workers. Yea. Not happy about that. Inside one of the bigger "pods". They are tiny.
