Shocked at the positive reviews -- maybe the bus service within Newark and individual cities is better, but the commuter rail lines are difficult to use. They're very unreliable, come infrequently on the weekend, and are very expensive for the level of service you get. Maybe I'm missing better service because I don't use this service for commuting but I would recommend looking for other options if you are visiting NJ from NY over the weekend.
The bus and the light rail system seem to work really well. It seems that the light rail ran every 20 minutes which was really convenient. I don’t know how often the busses came because they have so many of them. I would definitely ride again and recommend it!
Disgusting. There isn’t a car without drunk, obnoxiously rowdy drunk people. Weekends! Travel in style with people throwing up in the middle of the cars and on the seats.
Riding the 190X is such a pleasure. I only wish there were express service all day long. Keep up the good work NJT!
Inconsistent and unreliable given the price you pay. Delays are random and rush hour secaucus can take 30 minutes to get through a tunnel. But hey the seats have legroom
I only give it a 4 star because of the confused state I was in while looking for the train to go to Newark airport. For first time travelers, the instructions should be more precise as many people use the Penn Station to travel to the Newark Airport. Otherwise, purchasing tickets through the app was easy and the journey was smooth.
The trains are on time most of the time. Some of the ticket agents on the trains going into New York need customer service training badly. Talk to people with respect you are on your Job!!
Very unpleasant encounter with Robert a window 3 on 10/30/2019 at 10.05 am. He seemed more driven to make fun of my situation that I was trying to explain rather than being a problem solver of good customer service. I spent a good back and forth with this KID to suggest my own solution while he seemed foolishly amused. So insulting. NJ transit had failed it consumers in al kinds of ways. RETRAIN THIS KID OR GIVE THE JOB TO SOMEONE WORTHY OF IT
Pros: Busses are good and drivers are friendly. Cons: There is no mobile app to track bus schedule like the one in NYC and Boston, schedule update via text services doesn’t work well. There is no ticketing system like Charlie card in Boston and Metro card in NYC where you can refill the card and swap it once enter the bus. All in all NJ Transit very bad at using technology.
They now lock the waiting rooms at Broad St in effort to address vagrants like they did in Penn NYC Got off the train in a thunderstorm and the platforms were dangerously crowded and wet. Same trip, some guy had his extra large suitcase taking up three seats and was using 3 others. I asked the conductor to have him move his suitcase to the floor so people could sit down and she refused. I am tired of NJT not goving a crap about commuters. I pay $200 a month for this?
