Run by the Women’s Club of Maplewood, during the holiday season the little miniature Dickens village by Maplewood’s train station is a quick and fun adventure for the kids and the adults. Miniature houses meticulously decorated on the inside showcase little suprises in each. Always a pleasant jaunt during the holidays after visiting you can stroll right into town for a delicious meal. Great little town and fun little ode to Dickens famous tale.
Looks like it hasn't been renovated since the twenties but that's okay it looks nice . You can buy food inside sit down read some magazines and of course use the bathroom.
This train station doesn't work all day and it's not open on weekends... so we have no way of knowing why the train didn't pass or any other information regarding the trains.
A nice station withba historic feel.
So far it has the best rate for occasional parking in the Short Hills-Millburn-Maplewood area: $5 per day and free on weekends as of Oct-2020
There is ZERO parking at the station or the surrounding areas if you do not have a permit. No place to even pay for parking for daily. A complete gimmick.
Not one of NJ Transit's best stations. There are no level boarding platforms, so riders must climb up train car stairs to access the cars. This slows down train operations. There's also limited access to the platforms, and express trains often blaze past the station at high speeds just a foot or two away from where passengers are waiting on the platform.
What really can I say - its a basic train station, platform, tracks, stairs, and parking lot.
