Description

Supporting the university's continuing commitment to public engagement, Community Connections offers classes and workshops for individuals wishing to learn for professional growth and personal enrichment. The department's P-12 outreach program annually introduces NKU and college life to thousands of area students through group visits, performing arts concerts and its signature NKU Spirit Day event. The Educational Resources Portal offers lesson plans, multimedia resources, tools for student assessment and preparation, and information for parents and students.

Community Connections manages the university's educational resources portal for area teachers and the NKU Connections public events calendar for university-sponsored public events. The office's Connect Center provides a range of support services for university departments that sponsor revenue-generating public events.

Programs & Services:

Test Preparation
NKU prep courses are an important resource for individual preparation that must include extensive self-study and practice testing. ACT, GRE, GMAT and LSAT review and strategies courses taught by content experts will help you become familiar with the types of questions routinely appearing on each test and support the individual preparation process. Classes are offered each fall and spring, and intensive weekend classes are typically offered each summer.

Foundations for Academic Success
NKU is strongly committed to helping students achieve at all levels of their academic careers, from preschool to graduate school. Community Connections offers classes and workshops teaching academic success skills for middle and high school students. Classes are typically offered each fall, spring and summer.

Languages
Community Connections offers language classes for individuals wishing to learn basic conversational skills for business, travel and pleasure. Classes are typically offered each fall and spring in six- to eight-session formats.

P-12 Outreach
Community Connections offers programs that support the university’s continuing commitment to elementary and secondary education in the northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati region. Programs include group visits to campus, performing arts outreach and NKU Spirit Day with partnering elementary schools.

Event Support Services
Community Connections provides university sponsors of public events and activities a range of support services for revenue-generating events to save your department resources and increase the professionalism of your event.
