North Dakota State Railroad Museum

About

The official page for the North Dakota State RR Museum. We offer several displays of track tools and structures and equipment. Closed for the season.

Description

Our hours of operation are from 1 to 5 pm Memorial Day through Labor Day. We have several displays and photos from all the railroads that served North Dakota. We have several pieces of railroad freight equipment. We also have a few signal polls for block signals and station signals. We have an ice refrigerator car display that shows how the cars were iced on the inside and it also has several displays of track tools used by the section crews. In the main building there is a small library and several photograph displays. We do have a small store to get books and shirts and coffee mugs and several other items. We invite you to come and visit us often as we are continually updating the displays. Three times a season the Sky Line Railway comes down and gives rides to the public behind a miniature steam train. These dates will be posted in the comments section on the wall here. We hope you will come and check us out!
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

My kids love trains and this place didn't disappoint. They have several cabooses that you can go in as well as many other train cars to see. Several buildings to go in as well. My son even got a morris code tutorial.
Back in the good old days.
Closed when we got there but a gentleman doing some maintenance gladly showed us around
The ND Railroad Museum should be on everyone’s must do list while in North Dakota. Had a great time with my family. And three cheers for Bill! He showed us around with stories about the history of the railroad and the pieces in the museum.
Didn't get to see much. The person running it wasn't feeling well but he let us look around just the same.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entryFree
Super fun place to walk around! My 1 1/2 year old son loves trains, so he was in heaven, especially that you could climb up onto some of them!
This place is a hidden gem. My kids absolutely love it. The volunteers are friendly, helpful, and informative. A certain days they run a small train kids can ride.
Pros: Actual train cars and station for a real feel of past railroad. The Steele station is a great place for photos. Noce for families to do something tofether. Cons: Not well staffed and lacks modern technology. Location is a little difficult to find. Overall: My family enjoyed our visit.
Great little hidden gem! Need to go when the train rides are tunning. Otherwise great!
