This hospital has always treated my family and I with the best care that they can offer! Came via ambulance in the evening into ER because dad had a stroke. We were fortunate to have discovered it early on. CAT scans and stabilization were quick and we were able to get a room in the ER. They provided great help in helping us understand strokes. We did not get a room until the the morning which is understandable considering how packed they were. With the amount of accidents due to weather, I can only imagine how many patients they are seeing. Once we got a room on the neurological floor, everyone treated us very well! They allowed my mom and I to stay overnight in order to translate as it’s been difficult for my dad to communicate. They have been nothing but kind, understanding, accommodating given the circumstances we had. They are always providing education and insight on what would be best plan of care after discharge which is great. We sympathize with/are grateful for the nurses and doctors who had to work over the holidays. It must be hard being one of the hospitals that get a lot of intake they get patients in from as far north as Bemidji!!.
The wait took forever - like over 3 hours when we were told just 50 minutes - and when I finally got treated and tested they didn’t send my prescriptions to the right place. I needed an emergency inhaler because I have asthma and contracted Covid - why on earth did I have to call back and fourth 4x to get a prescription? I understand you’re short staffed. Try paying your nurses more and appreciating your staff so that sick patients actually get the care they need. This was a horrible experience.
I stayed there a few days ago, honestly the customer service and nurses were not helpful. This has been the worst stay EVER!! I wasn’t able to bathe and when I asked the nurse she said I had to do it on my own. How am I supposed to do it if the tub is high as you can see on the photos I was heavily medicated and everyone comes in all at once and i wasn’t able to understand them and I wish they would have explained things before they gave me those strong medication. Nurses also make random notes on MyChart, I am NOT HAPPY at all with my stay and unfortunately one of the nurses removed my gold necklace with my pendent on it and for some reason it got lost she never gave it back to me I did let staff know and its under investigation I have photos that I was wearing it before surgery And no one gave it back afterwards, also my feet we’re so swollen and I asked a nurse to cover me and she never came back. : just highly disappointed and wouldn’t recommend anyone to get treated here. NO ONE should come, BE CAREFUL cause your personal items get stolen/lost !!! If I could I would’ve given 0 stars. -UPDATE !!! My jewelry items were never recovered and hospital said there not responsible for my necklace and cross pendent that the nurse removed without my consent. 12/13/2022
I dont have any real complaints. Everyone has been kind and helpful. All staff, not just doctors and nurses, are always friendly and helpful. The ER is always backed up not unlike all other hospitals. My elderly family member and myself went home one night after midnight. We were provided with a ride to our vehicle in the parking ramp by security.
The first 24 hours being a patient here is a nightmare. Because they never gave me enough water while I was dancing back and forth because of kidney pain. The nurses were too busy, and I get that. But there was one nurse who definitely gave me an attitude. A young one who probably just graduated. She gave me the look of disgust as if she has never seen a Filipino woman before. They only cared as soon as I was having a deep psychosis with the word “slaves” etched on the white board in my room. It felt like hell. And some of the other nurses tend to talk about me disgustingly too. I don’t know if it is real or a hallucination. But they definitely gave me disgusting looks while being a patient for North Memorial. Some of the nurses were helpful, but an equal amount were looking at me as if I was making up my pain from Schizoaffective disorder. I’ve been a domestic abuse survivor for more than a decade, and the environment of North Memorial made me feel like I’m in the boundaries of Hell and Purgatory. I don’t blame the nurses for having an attitude though, they’re understaffed. But I don’t tolerate disgusting reactions that they have given me, and also some nurses invalidating my pain. They will only know me as another legal name, which I will not share here due to privacy reasons. But they can always email me and try to “fix” the problem.
The care that my mother received was excellent. She had two stays in one month and was well cared for during both stays. After experiences in other hospitals in the metro area, we have found that North Memorial in Robbinsdale has been consistent in their attention to patients and responsive, quality care.
I've spent 15 years helping hospitals improve quality of care and flow of patients through hospitals, having worked with more healthcare systems than I care to count. Being a patient coming through the emergency department at this hospital after a bad injury and in serious pain, it's incredibly frustrating to have to sit here for hours seeing no hope of treatment coming anytime soon. For all of your patients leadership at this hospital really needs to care enough to improve the situation. Solutions are not that difficult, but you have to care enough to fix the problems. Triage and X-rays came fairly quick, but the wait for treatment is inexcusable. I can't leave. I'm in too much pain. Their response when I asked about wait time for a treatment room, their 'caring' response was, "all hospitals have a long wait time"
Go here if you want to wait 400+ minutes while watching your doctors laugh and goof around with the nurse and not do their jobs. I was stuck 2+ hours in a room waiting on a simple blood work and they said the blood coagulated and they need to take it again and send it to testing which is another 1+ hour wait for it come back. At the end, I was not able to figure out what was wrong with my husband because we could not wait any longer. VERY DISAPPOINTING. I will be suing this place for negligence and improper care whilst we were there. Also, this is one of the worst hospital staffs ever. The nurse came in and argued with me when I simply ask what’s the hold up. Apparently the doctor was ordering more tests for my husband and we weren’t being updated. For Christ sakes, my husband was in pain so I don’t appreciate not communicating for 2 hours with us and leaving us in the room. DO NOT GO HERE, only go here if you wish to die.
I don't know what all the bad reviews are about..i went in on Thanksgiving and all the people I encountered were fast and efficient...couple of nurses were a bit short. But not rude, just busy....but the guy nurse who put my IV in was joking with us the whole time.made me feel super welcome wish I woulda got his name, but his daughter works at Red robin!...wasnt much waiting even. Best ER visit I've ever dealt with
Severe cut on leg should’ve kept it straight. Sat in lobby an hour before triage seen the severity of the cut and got me into a room promptly. Had a pillowcase to cover myself up and a fleet of nurses and whoever else paraded in and just lifting my pillow car in my underwear before asking if it was ok to look. Not sure why I’d say no at that point. That and the doctor not listening to me being in intense pain with him stuffing gauze in wound I walked out close to 1am. Unsure why you can’t sign a waiver to go get a breathe of fresh air or have a cigarette but you can sign yourself out and be denied any help and they refuse to anything to assist in not having things get worse. Also the attitude when I got to my absolute limits of tolerating everything was insane to me. I’m not loud obnoxious nor did I even get moody I just explained why i wanted to go home as OR doc wouldn’t be in until following day. I was filthy, in pain, in an uncomfortable environment, stable condition and unable to schedule myself a surgery the following day without restarting the whole process. Absolutely no reasoning for it. But they are all the same at any hospital just not so much anger or hostility as this place and I used to almost live at this hospital as a kid with my Mom working there over 40 years. Changed a lot since I was there last. Never again. Would rather bleed out and deal with that then what I went through here.
