The NMB Alcohol Enforcement Team was founded in 2012 in an effort to provide education about the dangers of underage drinking. The AET focuses on educating vacationers, businesses, and retailers about responsible alcohol sales and consumption. The team is also tasked with enforcing all Federal, State, and Local laws related to alcohol consumption, sales, and licensing. We hope to provide a safe beach for all to enjoy and to facilitate communication between the NMB Police and all community members.
(1) Reduce youth access to alcohol utilizing various strategies (social and retail access);
(2) Measure, track and improve merchant compliance with alcohol laws;
(3) Provide research-based merchant education; build community support for enforcement of underage drinking laws through media advocacy and community coalition maintenance and development; and develop local law enforcement support for underage drinking prevention and enforcement efforts.
