Super unique dining experience on Lincoln park’s lake trail. North pond has a really interesting vibe. When you walk in you immediately feel like you’re in some sort of old fashioned social club with a loose up-scale swamp-theme. Many of the accents on the walls and ceilings of the restaurant depict pond animals like frogs, ducks, geese, and fish as well as underwater plants. In the best possible way, the font of the restaurant, the old fashioned vibe, and isolated location when put all together gave the place an American-horror-story-style vibe… but with fantastic and innovative food. Since the moment we entered my boyfriend and I were treated extremely well: all of the servers were so friendly and courtly and were happy to go above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied. This struck me as unique when compared to some of the other Chicago restaurants — I never once felt rushed or unattended to while eating there. The tasting menu offers three choices for 4 different courses with an option for an additional course and a wine pairing. We opted to stay with the original menu, picked our favorite two dishes from each, and shared. They offered many “extras” to the courses they listed which was a fun surprise, and definitely added to the experience! Every dish was delicious and special, both in the way they were plated and the flavors they encompassed. Overall, I loved my experience here. We came for my boyfriend’s birthday, and they gave us custom menus with a birthday message as well as a dessert with happy birthday written in chocolate! I would highly recommend North Pond for a special occasion.
First, the service was amazing. Extremely professional and well above and beyond a typical dining experience. The plating and presentation of the food was exquisite. We had huge smiles on our faces just watching the dishes arrive. And the flavors were complex and novel. I tasted combinations I've never tasted before, and they were enlightening. Highly recommend treating yourself to this experience if you can.
A wonderful night and an excellent dining experience. Three of us came here to celebrate a birthday, and we all ordered from the tasting menu. I am glad that they gave you different choices of each course. So we picked different ones on the menu. Impeccable taste, excellent presentation, superb services. They hit out of the park. I am always puzzled by how the Michelin food judges pick stars. Many Michelin stared restaurants I dined are just mediocre. But this one really deserves the star, if not more. Great job North Pond.
I can’t think of a better meal and dining experience! I was there to celebrate my 30th birthday and they even printed special menus saying my name and happy birthday! We knew the meal was four courses but they surprise you with 3 additional small dishes and an additional dessert if it’s your birthday so in total we had 8 different plates. The waitress was great and talked with me about each wine pairing which I really appreciated. Everything about the service was impeccable. I can’t wait to go back for the brunch. Thank you for making everything so memorable for my special occasion.
Absolutely loved dining at North Pond. The service, views, environment, and overall energy in the restaurant was amazing. Being able to walk through the park overlooking the Chicago skyline to get to the there was the perfect start to a romantic dinner. We tired the four course set tasting menu and could not have asked for anything more. The crab crepe, wagyu, and duck were the big highlights of the night. We went there for our anniversary and got a custom menu made for us to take home which was the icing on top of what was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Highly recommend this place.
Cozy, classy, indulgent, decadent, surprisingly well-priced. Went here for our 1 year anniversary and had the full menu and wine pairing. I had the veggie options. The menu is seasonal and we went in the fall, so it was full of warm, nut, squash, apple, rich flavors. The service was phenomenal, as was the space. Honestly going here was such an experience - each plate was full of developing flavors and textures. We had a reservation a handful of weeks prior to our anniversary and they even decorated a plate for us and wrote happy anniversary on our menus. We also enjoyed looking at the skyline and wandering the park after our delicious meal. Highly recommend!
Intimate, elegant, and unique. I enjoyed every single dish. I'm not a huge dessert person, but their honey, pepitas was phenomenal. The customer service was also top-notch.
Enjoyable dining experience and great for occasions. Our server Steven M. made it all the more pleasant for my wife's birthday. Steady pacing between courses and the wagyu beef cheeks were . We had a great experience at North Pond. The brunch tasting menu was adventurous for instance, the savory “pop tart” and elegant. I ordered the sablefish for second course, and it was exquisite. We enjoyed both dessert options. The apple cake was a little dry for me, but the flavor was great.
This was the first Michelin star restaurant I've ever experienced and it was amazing. Loved all the courses and would definitely recommend it! I went with a group of 3 other people and no one left feeling disappointed. The staff were all very knowledgeable and courteous as well - has definitely set higher standards for me while dining out now!
