Beautiful clothing and friendly staff. The only thing I wish they'd change are the hours they're open till on Saturday- I'm a late shopper when out with friends in Boston. Other than that, love this store.

I just moved to Beacon Hill and while walking down Charles Street, a few things caught my eye in the window display. The sales associates were very friendly and knowledgeable about the brands. I especially loved the Joie pieces and tried a few things on. I was only going to get one item, but the sales associate introduced me to another brand and picked out a cute dress for me to try on so I ended up getting two items. I will definitely go back to this store because I had a great first time shopping experience!

Love this store! I discovered this shop about 6 years ago and have been a loyal customer ever since. They carry a lot of great brands but an edited selection (and in my opinion the best of each season) so you don't have to go fishing through racks and racks of clothes to find the good stuff! I always have success at NRO, sometimes too much success! Whether I need a dress for a black-tie affair, a cute top for a dinner out, a Father's Day gift for my husband or just a housewarming gift for a friend, they have it all! They also ship for you which is so convenient, no running to the post office to mail a gift! Also, you won't want to miss their end of season sales, you can really get some amazing deals!Joe J.

I was also skeptical due to negative reviews but decided to give it a shot due to a huge discount over a local store on a Barbour Bedale jacket. I used my amex as insurance because of people's frustration with refunds for store credit on discounted items. I ordered the jacket last week and received it today. Almost 40% off retail and free hood included. Jacket and hood arrived in original Barbour packaging with all documentation. I admit I expected this process to be frustrating and end in a call to american express but NRO fulfilled my order as expected and with all the negative reviews I feel like someone needs to voice their positive comments. Use amex to add a level of protection and give them a chance. I have no complaints.

We stopped in on the fly on a walk through the city.
I was impressed by the collection in stock and found the prices reasonable, and the sales prices wonderful.

I had a great experience in NRO's Wellesley shop today! It was finally a beautiful day, and I decided I needed a few new pieces to freshen up my spring wardrobe. The store manager was super cheerful and very attentive to me when I was in the fitting room, always checking in to see if I needed new sizes. She seemed extremely knowledgeable about all of the different brands they carry and was great at suggesting pieces I wouldn't have picked out otherwise. She made me feel very comfortable. All and all I ended up getting a few DVF items and a Nanette Lepore top! I also found parking right on Centre Street (score!). Will definitely be visiting again, and I heard they just opened a new kids store up the street

Although I had only popped in for a LAFCO candle to give as a gift, I was impressed with the brand selection for men (it's often hard to find quality clothing that is worth the money). The staff was friendly and should I need a pair of Alden shoes, I know where to go!

I love this store, they have so many great brands that don't get visibility in larger stores, sure the prices are expensive, but the products are quality. I've always gotten great service, and have never bought anything here that I wasn't absolutely thrilled with. If you are looking for longevity out of your gear, check out some of the smaller Swiss brands, Kjus in particular.

NRO has been a staple of my year-round wardrobe for years. Having the ability to shop for my favorite brands in one place is not only convenient for a busy schedule, but a godsend! If there is something I desperately need (read: want), they are always willing to special order the item for me directly from the vendor. Who can ask for more when North River is also available while on holiday...I often pop into the shop on MV and now ACK! The customer service is impeccable whether in person or via email/telephone. To anyone looking for preppy and classic wares I would highly recommend any of their shops...the online store is also worthwhile for those not in the New England region. A+ all around!

I'm a little shocked by all the negative reviews for this store. I was recently introduced to NRO and absolutely love shopping here! I had to special order ties and bow ties for my upcoming wedding and they couldn't have been more helpful. The process was seamless and arrived within the time frame they said. I'm guessing they rid themselves of the bad employees, as the sales associates were very helpful and friendly. I will say their return/exchange policy could be a little more lax, but I don't have a problem since I'm always able to find something I'd wear.

I absolutely adore this store & the kids store across the street!
Their boutique clothing selection is simply divine! And I have found the girls who work there to be nothing less than graciously charming and their style recommendations extremely helpful. I am always finding great last minute outfits for events and likewise for my two girls across the street! Buyers exhibit exquisite taste, and I highly recommend this boutique. A true Beacon Hill gem!

Amazing store and top notch service! They have the best brands in Boston. I was in the store today to pick up a Vilbrequin swim suit. There selection rivals the Vilbrequin Store on Madison Ave! They also have the largest selection of Alden shoes I have seen outside of NYC. I noticed some major brands like Ralph Lauren and some unique brands like KJUS ( I havent seen KJUS outside of Aspen or Deer Valley!) Check it out!

if you are looking for amazing customer service then look no further than north river outfitters. the owners and staff truly know their products and will take the time to educate and recommend items that are of top quality. they carry a wide range of clothing lines for men and women but i especially love their selection of unique gift items. in addition, the store's decor and merchandise displays are always beautiful and inspire you to pop in and see what's new for the season!

Seems like a great store to me. They have it all. Bills khakis, Vineyard Vines, Blazers and needlepoint belts. My wife shops there as well and loves all the stuff. The owners are super nice and not to pushy. The stuff is not cheap, but they have some of the best quality products in all of Boston.

Good selection of men's clothing and ties. My wife doesn't have to shop for me out of the vineyard vines catalog anymore. I can just go to NRO. Also love the needlepoint belts.
