Northampton Public Library

I came in all smiles today Nov. 21, 2022 and politely said good morning to the 2 women in front, they only responded with smiles. I don't know if they were nervous or just plain racist. So I sat down to quickly do my work on my laptop and they could not stop giggling like school girls and talking about me. I only heard bits and pieces but it had something to do with my hairstyle and the fact that my greeting was too loud. They continued this childlike joking among themselves for over 30mins. The unprofessionalism is deplorable and the fact that most of the Caucasian people that came through the door recieved such a warm welcome with words not just a smile was very odd to me. The library was clean but staff needs retraining on how to deal with everyone in the same manner. And to learn if you need to talk about your guest that badly to do it privately so that they nor the other people can hear you. I plan to go above their heads as well to address this issue.

A library is both a cornerstone and a jewel of a civilization. I with Hampton put more into theirs. However, it is pretty good for what it is, a storefront library. The staff is friendly, and they have all the basic resources you would look for in a library. From my time spent there, it appears that they are pretty thoughtful about providing the best service they can in the space. The staff was friendly, and there environment was welcoming. It feels akin to a good used bookstore.

Books I miss the big bookstore on Mainstreet and the one on Victoria Blvd is so charming with its accent pieces. The one closest is on Big Bethal. Its a rare chance to find a large collection of books. Being a book collector, its only rare chances I enter such establishments hoping to find a horde of treasures. I found a few today. One in particular was for my GOT collection. Not a bad deal for 2$ for the set.

How I've been 2.6 miles from this library for six months and never visited is beyond comprehension! Clean pristine actually, well-organized, neat; not to mention wonderfully helpful and friendly people at the front desk! And of course it's close to home so that's always a selfish plus. I wish the DMV was this pleasant and efficient. Thanks guys!

Excellent place to visit, professional staff, lots of computers to use, printer for 15 cents a page, etc. Safe location, quiet area.

Small library. Opens earlier 9am than other libraries. Good internet speeds [45.8 mbsp down/15.9 mbps up] Poor outlet placement for people with their own computers - desks on windows only have one outlet on entire wall; but back wall without desks have 3 double outlets. SMH

This is the best library I’ve ever been to. The staff are absolutely amazing and the programs they host for adults and children are always very thoughtful and well put together. This library brings me so much joy and it is always so lively they decorate beautifully. I love this branch.

I wish this library branch would upgrade their equipment and get with the times. You can only pay fines in cash and there no self check out stations. Very inconvenient, since I only use credit card. And the library associates are not friendly or knowledgeable.

Pleasant librarians always ready to help. Great selection of books for children of all ages and reading levels. Weekly activities are great way to entertain and educate small children. Large selection of books and magazines for adult readers. Computers available for both children and adults to use daily. Printing and copying services available as well.

Very polite and help staff. VERY clean. Awesome fun activities for kids and well organized.
