Counseling for children and teens.
Northern California Abuse Treatment (NCAT) is a CA nonprofit counseling agency working with child victims of crime and abuse who slip through the cracks of funding and accessibility to services. Health insurance, Medi-cal, and other funding sources are often limited and do not meet the mental health needs of children. Short and long term therapeutic services help repair any emotional, social, and psychological problems caused by child abuse and the trauma of crimes against children.
NCAT picks up where other resources leave off by improving accessibility to mental health treatment, extending the length of time a child receives services, and by providing outreach to schools, community groups, and professionals to increase awareness of child abuse and available services. We work with community agencies to coordinate and compliment services, rather than duplicate services.
Clients are children and teens who have been a victim of crime such as physical or sexual abuse, hate crimes, school violence, and exposure to domestic violence, parental drug abuse, abduction, and internet crimes. When the child is eligible for the program there is no charge to the client or guardians for treatment.
