Northern MN Girls Who Code Club hosted by Bemidji State University is for girls in 6th-12th grades interested in science, technology, engineering, & math.
Northern Minnesota's Girls Who Code Club #348 is part of a national non-profit organization leading the movement to inspire, educate, and equip girls with the computing skills to pursue 21st century opportunities.
Girls Who Code will benefit the young ladies who attend by strengthening their knowledge in the STEM areas, science, technology, engineering, and math, and give them the self-assurance that they can build anything they set their minds to.
Launched in Spring 2012, Girls Who Code is a national nonprofit organization working to close the gender gap in the technology and engineering sectors. With support from Twitter, Google, GE, ebay, and AT&T, Girls Who Code programs work to educate, inspire, and equip high school girls with the skills and resources to pursue computing careers.
Together with leading educators, engineers, and entrepreneurs, Girls Who Code has developed a new model for computer science education, pairing intensive instruction in robotics, web design, and mobile development with high-touch mentorship led by the industry's top female developers and entrepreneurs. Girls Who Code empowered young women from all five boroughs of NYC in its inaugural program and launched in cities across the country in 2013.
They are a small, dynamic group of individuals passionate about changing the world. They thrive on working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. They represent a diversity of backgrounds, a wealth of experience, and a ton of fun. They have yoga on Mondays, pancakes on Wednesdays, and unlimited soda everyday. Girls Who Code offices are located in NYC's Flatiron District.
Our mission is to inspire girls to learn about computer science and to use that knowledge to carry them into the field of technology.
