Established in September of 1988, the Council serves almost 800,000 people, including 200,000 families, in the area from O'Hare to Elgin “weaving the arts into the fabric of the community”
We wouldn’t exist without our WONDERFUL Volunteers.
They are the dedicated volunteers who keep the council and its many programs running by doing everything from computer work to serving refreshments for artist receptions. Faithful volunteers come regularly from once a week to once and month and some have served the Council for all of its 21 years. With them we are able to:
* Manage 11 galleries, changing exhibits every three months.
The Corporate Gallery program has been operating since 1989. Hanging paintings or placing sculptures takes a great deal of advance planning to coordinate the installation with the artists and the corporations - making sure necessary equipment is available, pieces are insured and that the installations are done in a way that pleases both the corporation and the artist.
* Secure the monthly poetry presenters for Second Saturday Poetry Workshops and have the coffee and refreshments ready for the participants
* Communicate with teachers, principals and artists to make the “Kids Meet Art”™ presentations smooth events for the school and students
* Produce and deliver 7,000 SPOTLIGHTS to our readers
To all our volunteers, THANK YOU. We couldn't do it without you.
The mission of the Northwest Cultural Council is to enrich the life of the community by providing opportunity for all people to attend cultural events close to home . . . to cooperate with existing organizations, assist in the promotion of cultural events, co-sponsor and support development of new programs and activities, and create future audiences by exposing the young to the joy of the arts.
