Its a smaller park with lots of grass, playground and a few basketball courts as well as a couple horseshoe pits and grilling area. A great place for walking the dog! It does have a desert area that backs up to it, and at night, I've seen coyotes. Could use a few more lights. A person must always be aware, because it has several dark pockets. Really love the smell of the pine trees after a rain! Playground: Awesome- not to busy and lots of age development obstacles. Restrooms: Nope nada Dog-friendliness: Coyotes at night sometime Picnic area: Homeless over run.
Smaller of Parks People don't forget past history of all the city Parks in that area! I met a very nice person there. Yet other people around there are not as friendly. Originally Norton Park very nice, small neighborhood park. But there were years of drug dealing and drinking in Norton Park and the people around there no doubt do not want that to start up again. On the corner is one of the large shade trees of many planted throughout the Valley and one of the few left that is that size. 2 Stars for actually meeting someone there who was a very nice person.
Nice park to bring the kiddos during the day or weekend. I would make sure there supervised, see a few sketchy characters a few times. But a decent park overall.
It's a cool place to meet up with friends and enjoy a cool breeze. If you're lucky enough to catch one....clean and not too busy. Go check it yourself. Have fun!
The neighborhood has culture. Park was quiet for a Sunday afternoon with a couple kids shooting hoops with parents, a mom watching three boys tossing a football and a guy there to run with his dog. The homeless were polite and clean. I sat with my Chihuahua and enjoyed the ambiance.
Beauty is all around you just take a moment to appreciate it
Ok park. Big toy for the kids and a basketball court. There is only one bench with a table which usually has some homeless people using it.
Its fairly clean. The kids really enjoy the stairs and the slides. There doesn't appear to be any scoundrels there. I'd give 4.5 stars but that isn't an option and I'm not giving it 5.
Norton is a nice little park in Sunnyslope. Since it's little and not too far a way from a larger park, Norton never seems too crowded. There are plenty of mature trees that provide ample shade during the hot summer months. I bring the family to picnic here from time to time.
We have recently moved to the area so this is our neighborhood park. We have to share it with alot of the local homeless. We see people arguing with each other and clearly intoxicated. I don't want my kids around intoxicated people so we leave sometimes. The park does appear to be fairly clean though. The play area is fun for the kiddos. It would be great if the homeless would choose other parts of the park and leave the pay address for the kids to enjoy. I will add that alot of them do stay clear of the play area but obviously some don't. The park is great for the kiddos if you ignore the homeless and occasional drug deal in the parking lot.
