The Supreme Court (including the Family Division) is the highest trial court in the province.
The Supreme Court has broad authority to try a wide range of civil and serious criminal matters, exclusive authority to hold jury trials, and to hear appeals (on summary convictions) from certain criminal trials and from tribunals, to try murder cases (except for Young Offenders) , to grant divorce and divide matrimonial property.
