New River Community College touts one of the most advanced and strongest Engineering and Design programs in the country. NRCC Engineering Design grads earn starting salaries that range from $45,000 - $60,000/year. Students have the opportunity to work in state of the art Engineering and Design labs with over a million and a half dollars worth of industry valued software and hardware and equipment in them.

Students have been doing co-curricular team projects with Engineering Students for 7 years having these projects such as Reverse Engineering of Nuclear Submarines, Submarine Prototypes, Unmanned Air Craft, Unmanned Ground Vehicles, Island Resorts, International Airports and Naval Restoration Projects with North Carolina Maritime Museum.
These projects are reviewed and evaluated by companies such as Lockheed Martin, Skunk Works, Northrop Grumman, New Port News, US NAVY, UNITED STATES AIR FORCE, AIAA and many many more.
There are 3 to 4 jobs for every graduate. Graduates can and do work all over the country at pay rate of $45,000 - $60,000 a year.
