Laurie R. Elston, B.S.N., J.D., received her Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from Gonzaga University School of Law, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Whitworth College and Eastern Washington University. She was also an editor and member of the Gonzaga Law Review.
As an attorney, she has represented health care providers in malpractice and licensing actions for over two decades in Washington and California. She has also served as a Municipal Court Judge Pro Tem in Washington. In addition, she taught tort law in the paralegal program at the University of Washington. She was also co-chair and co-developer of the original Nurses Law School for many years.
She is currently in private practice and handles various medical/legal matters. Ms. Elston is licensed as an attorney in both California (active) and Washington (inactive). She is a frequent lecturer and consultant on medical-legal issues.
Prior to becoming an attorney, she worked as a RN nurse at a large acute care medical center for nearly 7 years, including serving as assistant head nurse. She is licensed as a R.N. in both California and Washington.
