Description

NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, formerly Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center and also known as Lincoln Hospital is a full service medical center and teaching hospital affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College, in the South Bronx area of the Bronx, New York City. The medical center is municipally owned by NYC Health + Hospitals.Lincoln is known for innovative programs addressing the specific needs of the community it serves, aggressively tackling such issues as asthma, obesity, cancer, diabetes and tuberculosis. Staffed by a team of more than 300 physicians, the hospital has an inpatient capacity of 347 beds, including 20 neonatal intensive care beds, 23 intensive care beds, 8 pediatric intensive care beds, 7 coronary care beds, and an 11-station renal dialysis unit. With over 144,000 emergency room visits annually, Lincoln has the busiest single site emergency room in New York City and the third busiest in the nation.HistoryLincoln Hospital was founded in 1839 as "The Home for the Colored Aged" by a group of prominent philanthropists known as the "Society for the Relief of Worthy Aged Indigent Colored Persons." The hospital's function gradually became the most important aspect of the operation, and in 1882, the name was changed to "The Colored Home and Hospital."In 1895, after more than half a century of occupying various sites in Manhattan, the Board of Trustees purchased a large lot in the South Bronx—then a semi-rural area of the city—at the corner of 141st Street and Southern Boulevard. A new hospital was built; its facilities included the latest developments in medical care. The dedication took place on April 29, 1899. The hospital became a general hospital open to all people without regard to color or creed, although it maintained its founding connection as an institution dedicated to the relief and advancement of black people. During the hospital's reorganization and eventual occupation of the new site, its name was changed to Lincoln Hospital, in honor of president Abraham Lincoln.

This hospital is horrible!! They sit around looking busy but, there chilling. Nurse totally unprofessional. They let staff members who daughter was sick infront of people who been sitting for hours. PLEASE CLOSE THIS HOSPITAL DOWN!!!!
I was in the emergency aare i was waiting for someone to give a pass for more rhan an hour was rrying to give a compliment 5hey said if dont calm down rhey will get me out of there i was not talking loud i wait for another 15 minhtes then someone came and gave me a visitor pass
I had a knee infection from a previous surgery, i was in so much pain. I sat and waited for 4 hours thinking I would be seen by a doctor. Wrong! The doctors and nurses kept checking my wrist band and asking my name and dob, still no doctor. Everyone kept passing me and telling me a doctor will see you soon, now going on 5 hours, I decided to go to another hospital. Do not go to this hospital!
Bad service they let my husband catch a leg infection from bars that he had they didn't want to prescribed him antibiotics
My mom went to the ER at 7 am, she was finally seen at 5 pm and was kept in the emergency room until 6 am the next day when she was hospitalized and given a proper room because her condition worsened. I tried to visit her in the morning to give her some proper food, clothes and underwear but was rudely denied and misinformed by the admission staff. First they tell me I can just walk right in, after trying and being denied entry by the security, I go back to admission and they tell me to go to the ER, where they tell me to go back to admission, finally I go back and they tell me is not visiting hours and that my mom didn't need anything and was given a strict diet, which was not true. I understand if there are rules regarding visitation but it doesn't give you an excuse to lie and be rude. Two weeks before this happened my mom was hospitalized here and I was able to visit her outside visiting hours. The staff either don't know what they are doing or have some serious discrimination issues.
Nurses here are so profoundly rude it's incredible they're allowed to retain employment as supposed healthcare professionals. Instead of talking to you like an adult these people talk down to you as though you were a child being scolded. It's demeaning and completely unprofessional; God knows how these people got licensed.
Staff very friendly polite I have seen the changes throughout the years love the place no accepting bad reviews from nobody
2 people at a time for when u give birth ? That’s not even cool smh
I think it's a great hospital and doctors and staff are very nice haven't had nobody rude to me but again that's my opinion
Terrible place l, apparently takes 12 hours for them to put you in a room after being told you need to stay overnight 6 hours earlier. Every bad thing you heard about this place is true. ER receptionist was a good guy though!
