Fun place. We got there early so it was low key. Service is not bad at all, just kinda lax. Got alot of food for a great price. Worth reading the specials board. We didn't particularly enjoy the spring rolls or the lemonade but we loved all the sushi! Yummy. It was a fun place to visit and we will return if we ever come back to Salt Lake City.
I’m new to the area and was searching for good sushi places and O’Shucks did not disappoint! One half of the bar is your typical bar with pool tables, etc. while the other side has a sushi bar and restaurant-type seating. We went during the late night happy hour 10-11pm on a Friday night my understanding is that its a daily special except for Wednesday’s but I’m not 100% sure. All the rolls were 1/2 off. They were very unique and the tasty! Great quality ingredients. We tried The Confidential, Mars, the Caterpillar, and Playboy. All were great but I listed my favorites in order! Will definitely be back. We had such a great time!
Great place! Great aesthetic! You go down a small set of stairs to enter this location. It was pretty busy but we were seated right away and the time it took to be served our food was very reasonable. Delicious food. We had the Confidential, Vegas, and Playboy rolls. Confidential was easily the best of the three, but the other options were very good as well.
Service is outstanding here!! Made special modifications for me to have gf sushi, and even took my fav fish into consideration for the nigiri combo. Happy hour specials are amazing, with $3 burgers and half off rolls. Cocktail was decent, but the winner for me was a massive goblet of draft beer Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options are plentiful, staff is knowledgeable and will make modifications upon request!
For those wondering, this is an Irish/Sushi bar. For those still wondering, the owners are a couple: one Irish, the other Japanese. The atmosphere is split down the middle, with half being sushi bar and the other a pub, but everything is available everywhere. I will mention, the pub is faster than the sushi, but both are exemplary. You can have either a standard beer, cocktail, or sake. Food wise, both Pub fare and Sushi are available. This is a combo that should not work, but does. Cannot recommend it enough
Cool bar and sushi joint located on the lower level of a building. You need to be 21 and up to enter after showing ID. Food is tasty. Nice vibe and good music too. Has the essence of a nice sushi place and bar at the same time
I’ve been here a few times and I’ve always had a great experience. Sadly, tonight was the exception. The service we experienced with our server Hailey - ginger girl was unprofessional and rude. English is my second language and her arrogant attitude made me feel uncomfortable about my English skills to the point that I didn’t not want to ask much about the menu. My friends also experienced a rude attitude from her… and she technically forgot about us after getting us our food. I left the place feeling hungry. When it was time to leave, Hailey told us not to ask for separate receipts because “it was a lot of work” for her, and because she didn’t do her job right she brought and extra receipt and told us “Well, someone has to pay for it” “It’s only X amount of money, you guys can’t afford that?” - Hailey, Why would we pay for YOUR mistake and your arrogance? It was never about the money but about the attitude and the right principles of common sense. If you make a mistake OWN IT, but don’t bring your pettiness and arrogance to your costumers. What an unpleasant night from the beginning to the end. I’m sorry if Hailey is your server and I hope you get a better experience than us because the food is great
They check your ID right at the door so make sure you have it on you! Staff is great, the place is clean and the sushi was fantastic. I tried something called the Brooklyn Bomber and I loved it. Spicy but not overpowering! They're also flexible with drinks too. The menu for drinks isn't overwhelming but they're pretty good at mixing things up. Hannah was our waitress. She was quick, knowledgeable, friendly and had a great smile! Ask for her if she's working!
I ordered a dish listed on the menu as having a delicate sauce. It was yucky. Overwhelming salty, the chicken, cabbage and carrots were all the same color, brown. I told the waitress right away. She just walked on. Not even a discount. I paid 13 bucks for a plate of food I couldn't eat. Kevin was RUDE. Couldn't get a straw, salt or pepper. Really disappointed
This is the best sushi I’ve ever had, by a long shot! Incredible flavor, and so beautifully made; each bite is a masterpiece! The atmosphere in this underground sushi bar is so welcoming and inclusive, sitting at the bar was so much fun. I’m about to be a regular at this place. All the stars, highly recommend
