About

On this page you will see what's happening at Oak Bank in Fitchburg, WI. We are frequently teaming up with local non-profits to better our community and we would love for you to get involved too!

Description

An oak tree’s roots support vital functions of growing, gathering nutrients and supporting the weight of the mighty tree. Without strong roots, a tree is bound to wither and collapse.
There was a need for a bank in Fitchburg that was a Fitchburg bank. Not a bank that happened to have its branches in Fitchburg, but one with strong roots in the community. It was Bob Gorsuch’s dream to open such a bank that could grow and flourish.
We strengthened our roots by hiring talented and caring people and staying up-to-date with the latest banking technology. We designed our building to feel like home, with a fireplace, TV and no teller lines. But Oak Bank’s story goes beyond the day-to-day function of the bank. We took time to donate our resources and talents to over 100 local non-profits every year, and to give away more than 14,000 pounds of pumpkins (so far) at the annual Great Pumpkin Giveaway. We’ve created a bank that is committed to its clients, community and shareholders.
You can see that commitment to the community reflected in the non-profits that we support and the relationships that we maintain with our clients. We’re always willing to lend a hand, even when it goes above and beyond the duty of a banker. Because at the end of the day, we’re not bankers, we’re your neighbors.
But don’t take our word for it, stop by and meet our team and sample some of our fresh baked cookies in the lobby to experience first-hand why we are different.

The reason I’m giving 4 stars is because I’m not their customer. I just know them from the Oak Park Bank pumpkin giveaway event they managed 3 weeks ago and we really liked it. It had many nice activities for the kids and it was my kids’ first time to get such nice pumpkins since it’s our first time here in the country
I wish there was a way to leave 10 stars on google, not just 5. I've been banking with Oak Bank for over 10 years and I can't say enough good about them. A good bank should be good with numbers- they're a bank for crying out loud! But often times good banks make you, the customer feel like a number, and who likes that? Well no one!!! So if you want to upgrade from good to great, check out Oak Bank, where they will get all the numbers right AND they will get the human side right as well! Anyone can provide you a good interest rate- only the BEST can do it with a smile while remembering your name!
I have a lawyer friend who started up his own bank down in Illinois and he told me how private banks are able to personalize their offerings and respond to customers in ways that large public banks can't. So I checked out Oak Bank in Fitchburg. I have been so happy with this bank over the last 10 years. They helped me through refinancing my Verona home with a great 3% interest rate, then when I purchased a second home in Maryland last year, Carrie Montgomery went above and beyond to help me structure an equity loan and mortgage on my new MD house. Recently I thought I had lost a check, as no number was recorded in my checkbook, and out of precaution I canceled that check. However, Stephanie East phoned me to let me know that a valid check came through under my missing check number....I had just not entered it into my checkbook record. My first thought was "That is why I bank at Oak Bank! You wouldn't get this type of service at any other bank.". I highly recommend Oak Bank. I also love the cookies, coffee, and fireplace as you walk through their door. Well done! Thank you! I'll never bank with a large public bank again.
I wanted to take a moment to compliment Oak Bank and associates on my recent call for help. We were on a cruise vacation and we forgot to bring extra cash for incidentals. I figured I could get cash with my debit card. The machine was not allowing me to get the cash so I called Oak Bank from the ship and got friendly and immediate help. I was pleased that there were safety checks in place for maximum cash withdrawal as well as international withdrawals. And just as quickly, problem resolved so that I could get the extra cash and then those safety stops were put back in place when we returned home. I'm glad our concerns are safely looked after at Oak Bank. I am always so well treated whenever I call with an issue - which isn't very often! Even living as far away as Kentucky, I'm so glad to have "my" bank in Madison. Please pass on my thank you to all involved, starting with Mary, who was the first to answer and knew exactly who I needed to speak with. Thanks Oak Bank! Have a great day!
A check< written to my business from an Oak Bank customer account, was returned for Non Sufficient Funds. This returned check cost me both time and money, for for the return fees from my bank and for putting a big hole in my account balance I didn't issue any bad checks as a result. After contacting the check writer, they assured me that sufficient funds to cover the check had been deposited. But after being bit by an 11 dollar NSF fee, and overdraft charges caused by missing money in my account, I wanted to avoid the chance of a repeat. I contacted my bank, and they said the only way to avoid that possibility was to have the check writer's bank take the check and issue me a replacement based on bank funds. So I drove 25 minutes to Oak Bank. After getting there, I was shunted to a manager, who told me the bank could not issue a check because it was written to a business account. He sadly told me there was nothing he could do, but assured me "there was plenty of money" in the check writer's account to cover the check. Miffed at my bank, I returned to them and deposited the check. I won't touch my account for a week to avoid a negative balance if the check bounces again, but I will still be subject to another $11 fee if that "plenty of money" suddenly goes away. I asked my bank manager about this, and she said Oak Bank should have had no trouble reissuing the check to my business, drawn on bank funds, and that telling me one of their customers had "plenty of money in the account" was highly unprofessional. So, thanks for nothing, Oak Bank. Maybe next time you can follow regulations, keep customer info private, and assist people who do business with your clients. This time, you struck out.
Is there a reason Carol is super rude and taking out her frustrations in life on her customers? I guess if I looked like that I would be angry too
Oak Bank has been very good to work with from our mortgage and savings to our everyday checking account they are always ready to lend their assistance to make sure the job gets done correctly. They ask the right questions and truly listen to give you the service tailored to fit your needs. I would highly recommend stopping in to see what they have to offer for your particular banking needs.
My debit card never works internationally and always ends up restricted despite me calling and telling them about my travels. This is terrible when you are in a other country and don't have the means to call as they have it set up that you can't do anything on your own. There's no push notifications for approval of transactions. Nothing. It's ridiculous that a bank operates this way in 2022.
I recently purchased a business and researched multiple different banking institutions in the area before deciding upon Oak Bank. They were friendly and helpful throughout the entire process, and when I described my discoveries with various credit card merchant reps in the area they immediately put me in contact with a company they work with which was just as equally helpful. I thoroughly enjoy banking with Oak Bank!
We moved our commercial loan to Oak Bank and normally this isn't easy for a commercial loan. Exec VP Matt Fink talked TO us and made us feel important. He is an incredible find that is right by us. All of the people at the bank are helpful and they always answer questions with a smile. I think we are done with moving our commercial building loan. It was just too easy. Thanks Guys!
