3.5 stars for the first course built in 1975. 4 stars for the front nine keep er low in the tree canopy. Back nines matter and these are week out in the open holes I'd rate 3 stars.
I walk this area, along with the entire watershed area about 3x a week. Love the woodsy feel to the course & it’s really a beautiful area. I’ve never played golf, so I can’t attest to the course, but there are usually a fair amount of people playing on the lower course, not so much on the upper.
What can I say... first in the world!! Truly historic for disc golf. Lots of fun shots, and not terribly challenging. I'm from out in the desert, but when I come down to the valley for disc golf, I usually end up here. While the upkeep has been difficult for the club to deal with because of the city, there is a great community of players that work hard to keep Oak Grove alive. I will always have such a huge heart for this place, and wish I could have been more local. Anyone that has a passion for disc golf, should really make this a destination.
I am not an avid disc golfer - this was my first time playing in years, and I only own a few discs. There seemed to be lots of pros here with overflowing kit bags. It was cool to be playing at the very first permanent disc golf course. Having said that, it was a little bit of a challenge. The sign marking the first hole had been pulled out and tossed aside. Navigating the course in general was a little tricky, and I would have been lost without an app on my phone to direct me. I almost lost a disc several, and I actually found two discs that were lost by others. I learned that it's a good idea to put your name and phone number on your discs. I ran into lots of folks who knew the course well and were very helpful. I ended up needing to leave and came back to finish on another day. I was surprised after the 18th hole to find out that there were still four more. Anyway, I'm glad I played, and I'll probably come back.
I was excited to play this course, as it is the world's first permanent disc golf course and it was lovely! The views were unbelievable. I currently live in Texas so this is unlike any other course I have played. The course was a bit confusing to follow, probably because of the winter layout and it being my first time, but it was awesome!
Pasadena Parks and Rec need to spend some money on this place! It is the Worlds first frisbee golf course. The sign stating that is no longer posted and existing signs are in poor condition. I was so upset seeing this great place so run down
Was lost and my dogs needed to get out of the car. I’d like to thank the residents of Pasadena, the city of same, county of Los Angeles, and God for this absolutely beautiful place. Full of friendly people and respectful squirrels. I bet it’s beautiful when there is water running thru. Can’t wait to come back to that. If u are on the fence get off and come here.
Great course - mix of open and wooded shots
Great for some fun and sun. Ample parking and restrooms dispersed around the course. Depending on the season make sure to bring water, sunscreen and water. Enjoy!
First disc golf course in the world circa 1976. Still keeps getting better. Lots of oak trees makes this a highly technical course. No other course like it in SoCal.
