Beautiful victorian cemetery. In addition to the beautiful monuments/head stones, the cemetery is filled with beautiful trees & a variety of birds & other wildlife. That being said, the city needs to do a better job maintaining the property. There are many toppled head stones & the grass is usually over grown.
Beautiful happy they are restored the old chapel lots of people worked hard on that project and the old graves are being cleaned and cared for properly can find a lot of great history on the people here in library and sometime there are even cemetery walks that tell about the people and what the did when they were living
The map does not show how neglected it really is. all the roads you see on the map within the cemetery are barely recognizable anymore. One of these that is completely covered. The road is cracking, seriously i bet my foot can fit in a couple of them. some headstones are broken- overall terrible place... theres so many sketchy things there now. Yes, it is large. But if you wanted to find a loved ones grave after not being there, youd probably get lost. Btw, the people right next to it got some big balls having a cemetery right next to their house. I would not want to be buried in such a horrid environment. BUT. the architecture is absolutely stunning. Some daredevils would find this an amazing place for photoshoots. Just saying
A beautiful old cemetery, well kept up. They were deer roaming through while I was there lately, and a plethora of brown eyed susans on the hill behind the chapel
The grounds are neglected. Headstones that are tipping are not repaired, and the grass is not trimmed. It's very upsetting to visit and see how awful it all looks.
most beautiful cemetery in janesville and the staff is excellent.
This said to be the most haunted place in Wisconsin.
